There must have been some scams going on there as well as the whole money thing that didn't get mentioned.
They mentioned the players getting paid for big plays and walking-around money, former Canes and Luther Campbell both admitted they did it.

But I really wish it was another hour longer and went more in-depth into the fall of the program and all the scandals and how Butch Davis rebuilt the program.

pros of a sequel: More Dan LeBatard and Kosar, football scenes featuring Devin Hester

cons: probably no fumblerooskis

Schellenberger really looked like he had some regrets leaving miami for the USFL - what a football legend he would be if he had stayed their just 10-12 years, assuming he wins at the 4 rings as well.

That was an awesome documentary. I didn't realize that it was going to be two hours and haven't been as happy since realizing the first episode of Jersey Shore was also going to be two hours.

The Miami Herald had a good article today telling some other interesting stories like Cortez Kennedy having to be held back from punching the Seminoles horse in the mouth before a game.

They also compared the football program today under Shannon, who played on these teams, to some of the other more "respected" programs in the nation. It goes on to show how Miami Football ranks higher on an academic scale than Notre Dame and highest of all the Florida Schools. Well worth the read.

Ehn, it was sorta lame in that they just let everyone tell their story, and that's that. Contrary to popular belief, most good documentaries take a position on the topic, and try to tell a story. People think documentaries have to try to be impartial, even in the face of lies. What's the point in letting Pocklington spout his BS and not call him out on it? He needed money, so he sold Gretzky. End of story. Call him out on that ****.

I really can't imagine what it would have been like to be Peter Pocklington in the years following that trade.

Irvin trying to start a fight with real life hitmen and living to tell about it - "These are REAL KILLERS" and "Wide Right Crew" were both gold.

Very good piece.

I mentioned to my wife that the fumbleruskie really does need to make a return, it always works for huge yards.

My wife also noted: ''It's like the NCAA made all the anti-taunting rules because of Miami.''

Randall Hill was awesome.

Surprised so many people like this one. I felt like they spent 15 minutes setting it up, and then 75 minutes just talking about how much **** they talked. First they went here and talked ****, then they got a new coach and talked ****, then they played in this game and talked ****, then they got a new coach and talked more ****, then they wore fatigues and talked ****. I got it. They were young, poor, black guys who liked to talk **** and were good at football. You didn't need to repeat it 150 times.

That could have been done in an hour for sure.

That's exactly how it was though. It went on for much of a decade and completely changed the game in college football. They whu**ed your @ss and told you about it and that's part of what made them so polarizing.

I'd love to see a team putting up 120 in NCAA basketball again, they were something else.
Westhead is currently the coach for Oregon's womens team. Although not 120 pts a game, they are scoring some points.

VMI can put up 120+ if a team likes to run with them, the only problem is they suck.

Army W, 93-86
Richmond L, 103-59
West Virginia Wesleyan W, 111-92
NC Wilmington L, 115-95
Lynchburg W, 108-93
Coastal Carolina L, 111-97
Charleston Southern W, 103-91
Virginia Tech L, 98-73
Seton Hall L, 134-107

They average 8.5 more possessions per game than the second place team in the country, the Seton Hall game had 101 possessions in a 40 minute game, ridiculous.

Yeah, that was kind of a shame. Now it seems the team is primarily associated with Jimmy Johnson but it looks like Howard was the guy who made them respectable, and it would have been cool if he had stayed.

I really don't quite get what happened there anyway - he left for the USFL opportunity, the opportunity somehow dried up or went away, and then he said he "couldn't go back" to Miami, but the time line suggested that Johnson hadn't been hired yet. Presumably he had, and it was either presented in the wrong order or I misunderstood it.

lol

Well sure, I was growing up in the late 80s and like most of America hated them, they were such perfect villains, but I thought there was enough content to warrant two hours and it was well done.

Although I'm not sure why the hell they or anyone else interviews Drew Rosenhaus for shows like this. Who cares what he thinks?

Oh well. Was also one of the few title games they didn't play on their own field.
