Did people get equally as outraged when Pam & Tommy's sex video was leaked?

I'd call that an even bigger invasion of privacy and never once did I hear anyone calling it "creepy" to watch it, in fact it was pretty widely celebrated.

The reasons for this seeming double standard is two fold:

1. Pam was/is a "sex" celebrity (Playboy apperances and such) so people thought of it as more ok to violate her sexual privacy. Andrews on the other hand has not done anything like that.

2. The video was discovered and released, the guy didn't secretly film it without their knowledge. I don't know why this matters, but it seems to. Had this guy randomly found this video that EA had made herself and posted it, would it be any less an invasion of her privacy?

So the next time a paparazzi posts a picture of a celebrity sun bathing topless or not wearing panties, I hope I'll see this same sense of moral outrage at the invasion of privacy and creepiness of it all.

You don't see why someone stalking you is different than a sex tape you yourself made reaching the public? Seriously?

They are very different in regards to aquiring of the material, however I see no difference when it comes to consumption of the material by the general public.

UAT is winning this thread by a wide margin. The Pam Anderson comparison was spot on.

I lolled at the response to calling EA acting self-righteous: "wut about the perv filming the video?" Yeah what about him? Nobody's disagreeing that he's ****ed up and a sexual deviant. Is EA going to let someone like him ruin her life forever? From her reaction, it sure seems like it. This is straight out of the Tiger Woods school of melodrama and overreaction to something that could easily be blown off to the public. She did nothing wrong, she didn't do anything weird in the video either, it's not like he filmed her with a dildo or doing anything kinky. And she wasn't like secretly fat and ugly or something either. As embarrassing things go, those videos aren't at the top of the list. It's been 8 months, EA needs to get over herself already instead of complaining about the guy's sentence.

how dare someone possibly have human emotion - each reaction is calculated, with deliberate agency.

I'm more of an analyst / therapist.

It's a moot point anyway, the technical term for rapist is now Roethlisberger'er.

His streak of being consistently wrong about everything is incredible, I don't know if I've ever agreed with him.

LOL, this has nothing to do w/ being embarrassed. It has everything to do w/ having your privacy invaded. I know it's hard for a lot of guys to understand this, but women are TERRIFIED of stuff like this. Real or not, they see it as one step away from being raped. EA isn't thinking "OMG! I'm naked on the internet!". She's thinking "OMG! This sicko was right outside the hotel room. What could I have done if he decided to just come into the room?".

I wonder how many of you guys that are saying EA is overreacting have a sister or wife? I know someone is going to say "If my wife was that hot, I wouldn't care!".

There is a difference between thinking he's a sicko and needs treatment which he is being punished for. And thinking taking 3 years of a man's life isn't sufficient.

Obv she's a woman and her statements can't be taken at face value for such an emotionally charged event. But gmafb.

Question: Had he done this exact same thing to a random non-celebrity girl and been caught would his sentence have been the same, more lenient, or more severe?

This is of course speculation but I'm going to say he gets off with a much, much more lenient sentence if it's some random chick and not a pseudo-celebrity who works for a super powerful corporation.

People misunderstand, I'm not saying what the guy did was good or not wrong or that he shouldn't be punished, he's clearly guilty of multiple crimes, but people are way over-reacting to it because of who the victim is and are displaying tons of double standards about invasion of privacy concerns.

lolol he just keeps going

you mean if he had followed a woman around and stalked her and videotaped her - it's probably a pretty significant sentence, yes.
