I’m reading that it’s an issue of the club unable/unwilling to invest in the squad. Are Wolves no longer the preferred way for Mendes to bring through Portuguese kids and make himself even more rich in the process?

Varane / KdB already spoke out against it - but I think this will likely stay this way.
I mean just hurry up and make it 30 min a half and pause the clock when the ball goes out of play.

I'm really struggling to see this not being the most obvious solution for a whole host of footballs problems.

Can't we just lose the secondary club cups and the nations league? The problem isn't adding on an extra 10 mins (particularly with the number of subs), it's with associations trying to maximise their $$$ by ramming more games down our throat.

The fat blokes in pubs would revolt if the game was Americanised that much.

I do wonder how profitable those events are. But since these are somewhat different organizations with different sponsors I think nobody is willing to budge.

Ya i think your picks are optimal, pool + city rotations make this hard. if kane goes moving son to penalties and is healthy + kdb gets 2400 minutes again youll be a favorite IMO. I think there will be a couple midfielders who are cheap that go off this year, but hard to pick which one obviously.

Some personal favs for break out years:
mbuemo
eze
ouattara
diaby
szoboszlai

id pick a brighton midfielder but just think theyll end up rotate too much

Thoughts this fantasy squad? Where are my biggest holes? Never played EPL fantasy

your biggest hole is your bench. starters are rarely not playing to start a season, plus in PL there are 5 subs, so logically extra money on the bench is wasted. get a 4.0 goalie and have your bench defender be 4.0 and your mid/fwds on bench be 4.5. you can break this rule if you have a plan (eg some ppl benching chilwell or colwill gw1 cuz liverpool but then start them gw2 onwards)

it starts being more okay to have money on the bench around xmas-ish cuz so many more fixtures and more rotation (or opportunities to target a double gameweek with bench boost), so ppl generally will plan for that with 1 of their wildcards.

backup goalies in your FPL squad ESPECIALLY dont start almost ever, so pick a 4.0. turner is popular since he just got moved to forest but he may get supplanted gw2'ish if forest sign henderson. its honestly fine if you pick a 4.0 that will never play, so long as your starting keeper is playing you're fine.

w your bench that should give you gobs of extra money to make upgrades.

right now the popular bench bois are

gk: honestly anyone, but the more popular your 4.0 the more likely they will go down in price by xmas
fwd: mubama
mid: nakamba
def: baldock, kabore, beyer

btw for those who care, city lineup probably leaks before FPL lock since they are playing away and ppl will know who is travelling

theres a nonzero chance ederson is benched for ortega and your draft suddenly gets an extra 0.5 or 1.0 to spend. make a draft for it just in case so u dont get caught off guard.

im currently rocking turner as my backup, just hoping FPL site doesnt crash if and when ortega leaks. cant afford to deny a 3rd city slot if i want it later without having to sell ortega. that would be dumb.

(im thinking odds of ortega starting is like 5-10% but im probably being optimistic)

I'm not sure it will stay. The stops for cramp will go through the roof, whether genuine or not.

Arsenal just paid 30M for a goalie they're going to sit on the bench so I'm pretty sure he can afford to pay 5.0 for his backup keeper

Not bad for a first attempt.

Few thoughts:

- Way too much money invested in GKs
- Value too spread over the bench (and not enough in the 11 players that will play)
- Too few elite players (You want to go with something more akin to what yanks would call "stars & scrubs" - much of the skill/luck of this game is finding the £4m/£4.5m that end up playing and scoring points)
- Mudryk couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo
- Lots of players that are rotation risks or simply unlikely to play (Martial/Mudryk/Royal)

Watch a USA college soccer game and have all your questions answered. It's awful. And stopping the clock appears to abritrary too

I said west ham would stink, but Maguire and JWP are the two most pro-Moyes signings you could ask for. They might be the biggest bus parking team of the year.

Maguire will thrive and JWP won’t get exposed for being meh at literally everything except set pieces.
