From what I can read it's not that he turned down compensation. He agreed to terminate the contract so obv he shouldn't be paid out the remainder. He's free to continue working, why would he be due any compensation?

Everyone understands what happened and 'waives compensation' implies PR7 is like a sympathetic (not officially) fired manager of a club in financial predicament, rather than someone simply unwilling to keep working there (and not elsewhere), hence is owed nothing and has nothing to waive
