He hasn't become a bad manager overnight. It is natural that it will take him time to adjust to the different style of demands a club like Chelsea will put on him.
People gave way too much credit to Potter vs the ownership and structure of Brighton

Sure, that works too. But they've gone from CL winners to very unlikely to be top 4 in two years. Lots of blame to go around.

investing in the coaches of these well run small clubs like brighton and brentford feels like missing the point imo

I see Potter is in a similar situation as Emery with us.

Complete reorganization going on. New people everywhere. Looking for a new director of football and 60 days in charge. Not many would look not out of their depths.

We had some bad games and defeats under Tuchel, but we were still present in those games, often the dominant possession team who could just not put the ball in the net and conceding on counters, but we still had some presence on the pitch and control of the ball.

These last few games we have had nothing, no presence, no game management, no control, nothing, the other team has totally and completely dictated the game.

Its the total vacuum of game management that is the stand out to a Chelsea watcher, yes we have had dodgy managers before, but even then we could put our foot on the ball and dictate some shape on the game, even if we were set up to concede possession and counter, at least you could see that pattern in our play.

Chelsea are at the long end of a period of high disruption, in this spot you need a Carlo or even cant believe I am saying this Benitez, someone with the hard yards at this level who can be flexible and adaptive to the chaos and randomness caused by having your club force sold just before a window and then most of the backroom staff sacked.

Its the wrong time for Potter and this is with the caveat that there might never even be a right time, but of all the times, this is the worst.

Maybe, but it seems like hindsight now given that I don't recall people talking about this until this current run at Chelsea.

Perhaps I'm wrong and you can langer yourself banging on about it.

I did have these kind of opinions on lol reddit because the volume here is so dead.

Nothing against Potter, still think he's fine and this Chelsea side is wank

Brighton being an extremely well-run club isn't exactly a new position to take, so not sure people need to langer themselves on that. Now, I'm sure that opinion *included* Potter, but I think when North Americans or continental Euros, where coaches are usually well below some sort of sporting director in the line of command, talk about a club being well-run, they're referring to the macro level of ownership/management/squad building and resource allotment much more than what the gaffer is doing. Maybe a different story to Britons who think of managers in the SAF/Wenger mold
