The fact is Mendy is one of the worst penalty takers in top football. This is just a fact and I'm sure he recognizes it's a weakness.

And Kepa, for all his flaws, has a good record at pens. And there's also project rebuild Kepa's confidence so we can offload him somewhere, so Tuchel keeps trying to give him success when he can.

I was surprised to see it, but it made perfect sense imo.

Mendy has saved 2 penalties in his life our of 26, one of them being that Aguero lol worthy pen in the league last we played.

He is abysmally poor at penalties, I don't think anyone has a worse save rate than him in top football (except De Gea if you count only the past couple of seasons).

I noticed this at the CL final too.
UEFA president is really good at handing out medals without turning round to grab the next one. He's practiced it like a relay baton change with his buddy behind him passing them over.

Tuchel confirms analytics prefers Kepa when it comes to penalties.

Tuchel so sharp, super cup means **** all in the scheme of things but it's good to constantly give Kepa reps to rebuild his confidence (dude got broken up with the moment he moved to England and then suffered during covid). Havertz had similar downward spell last year. Some gigs you just get wrecked in the brain and get yips and during Frank it seemed like Kepa was legit going to be ruined forever. I love what Tuchel has done with him. Slow rebuild, trust the process.

At some point we will prob need to sell Kepa at a loss but assuredly some rich team is gonna see an opportunity to get Kepa at a discount. And if Mendy somehow gets hurt, then it's not a trainwreck.

I genuinely think if we ran out Kepa right now we'd have a league average keeper instead of absolute worst so for that to happen in a year is pretty amazing.

Yeah I think it will still do autosubs from your bench if someone doesn't play, assuming someone on your bench does play

For the Draft league? Yes I'm Don't Care One I-Jota and I should be David Moyes bc I have no idea what I'm doing that. That said, I'm in for the side bet.

Yep, no changing lineups, I don't think you even have a captain if I'm remembering right from a couple of years ago. If anyone so much as switches the order of their subs on the bench after week 1, they get disqualified.

Possible exception I'm open to either argument on: Lukaku. Assuming he isn't on the site in time, if people want him to be draftable, I'm fine to say you can take say Batshuayi in his place for now and transfer Lukaku in once he has signed (and we can work out if any score adjustments are needed for week 1), but obviously its easier if we say no exceptions, only the players on the game at the time of the draft are available. Either way, need everyone to know so default has to be that he's excluded but open to others' thoughts.

Let's not combine stuff like that in. Maybe some even sexier transfers happen or the Lukaku deal breaks down in the very last second for some reason (0.00000001%) but still.

So we have to think what player does the poor soul get then? opens a new can of worms. Let's just stick with what we have on the site.
