PL statement on the Villa game says that

"This decision was based on the number of Covid cases, injuries and illness."

So they're saying they're taking injuries into account.

Feels like teams just don't want to miss out on getting a break at this point. If they aren't going to pause the season then they shouldn't be accepting all these call offs. Use your squad.

I dont see how is it fair for Everton and Leeds to play their games and the rest to be called off.

The lack of clarity regarding at what point do they call it off is infuriating as well.

did any team with recent covid cases play a game? i havent kept up.

seems somewhat reasonable if they cancel games because of risk for spreading covid.

Presumably they travel by the same teambus so even 1 case should be a postponement. Given we follow that logic, otherwise it should be treated like injuries

Looks like a lot of this mess is coming down to unvaccinated players and then having to sit out whether they test positive or not. I’m not sure a pause will help or not because a three week pause will still mean a ton of cases in the UK when it restarts.
