Romano winding up for a "here we go".

Pretty good deal for Arse. Improves their first 11, which is all you can really ask for from a summer signing.

Arsenal were pretty good for possession/shots/field tilt last year. Obviously not city/pool level good, but much better than the past 5 years. Biggest issue is it's quite reliant on Partey being healthy.

The biggest difference between Arsenal now and city/pool/chelsea is at FB. City/pool obviously still have better, more proven attackers. Chelsea is a mixed bag, but they've won a CL with those dudes. But the Arsenal lot is quite good now. But, those teams have world class full backs. Arsenal have...slightly above league average guys and Tierney cant get through a full year? Even Spurs who don't have amazing guys on paper have Conte, who has gotten A+ seasons from C level guys before.

For a squad player with 12 months on his contract? I think city have done quite well there.

I guess every attacking player on city player not named Bernardo Silva is a squad player since he's the only attacking player with significantly more than 2200 minutes in the pl.

Kdb froden grealish sterling all within 300 minutes played of one another in the pl.

Arsenal probably paid about 10-15m over what they'd have paid to a team not named man city and it's a deal that could look like a steal down the road. Getting it done very early in the window has some value as opposed to maybe talking them down a few quid but getting him late in the window.

The front 3 of that team does look good although at the moment only 1 of them is contracted by Arsenal

The remaining 8 + bench looks like a fine team if your ambition is to make the Europa League

That is an easy CL qualifying team leapfrogging the current Chelsea/United team easily.

But other than that agree - work to be done. Those tier 2 spurs targets aint signing themselves.

dunno how good he is tbh, but strikers are mega expensive and on the face of it 45m for a 25 y/o brazilian with 50 odd caps whose had regular game time for the worlds best club side the last few years feels a steal

as a comparative, newcastle spent 40m on joe linton after he scored about 4 goals lifetime for hoofenheim

Yeah it might be the going rate considering the dearth of strikers but he has a year left on his contract and they've replaced him with two new strikers. He wasn't going to be playing much, getting 45m seems pretty pretty good in that situation.

Its a great deal for all parties involved

Does Ronaldo to Chelsea has any legitimacy behind it?

Sterling to Chelsea seem to be a thing as well. If those happen I would retract the leapfrog statement from above. Although they do need a CB next to the geriatrics and Christensen.

You're already ahead of Utd there's nothing to leapfrog, but I think Chelsea are going to be favourites to finish ahead of Arsenal next year. Don't know about "leapfrogging them easily".

Since the start of 2019-20 season Jesus has scored 4 more goals than Lacazette in 400 more minutes. Think the Man City team was prob better than the Arsenal team too.

I think he'll do ok-ish but I do think people are getting a *little* carried away.

Its the current team and I have no trouble saying that the current Chelseq team is weaker than the above qouted team.

Naturally they will sign people so that statement will be irrelevant in a month

I dont expect you to understand it with having Kane as a striker. But just try imagining Eddie as your sole source of goals for half a season.

The way I see it, Jesus presses, can drop to link, can play wide, can run in behind. He’s 24 and should just be hitting his prime. I realize this sounds a bit silly for a striker, but he’s basically everything you’d want from a forward minus the finishing ability. If he improves on that at all, well…

45 seems like a bargain compared to the 70m figure that was being thrown about for Alexander “one goal” Isak last window and the 100m Napoli are apparently demanding for Osimhen.

Also he’s one of those “good boy” types that Arteta wants. Devoted to his mom (that’s what the phone celebration is) and never complains about anything.

Seems pretty likely Mendes is looking for an escape route, can't see Ronaldo wanting to finish his career in the EL.
