I'm not in any money leagues, so went contrarian since mane is 3% owned vs Salah being like 50%+. In a vacuum Salah is obviously a better pick than mane, but if you want to take the high variance route you'll make massive leaps over the field at those ownership differences if Salah underperforms even a slight bit (or mane over performs). Unfortunately Salah is over performing and mane is underperforming but the underlying numbers don't warrant the ownership discrepancy. In actuality the better play would be to just have both as most people that have Salah won't also have mane.

i remember taking mane over salah late 2 seasons ago for the TC differential and mane got injured, but that was because everyone ahead of me was auto-Salah

can't say i agree with contrarian mane this year :O

i legit suck this year, took ings/buendia over benrahma/antonio to start then lost pep roulette with both mahrez and ferran then blew some games on baby oil biceps man

also tilted that i took werner/watkins over auba/antonio in the seasonlong no xfer leauge X_X

Like I said, in retrospect I think the sharp play is to just have both. When has the #3 guy in fpl points this far into the season on a top team ever been under double digit ownership let alone under 5%?

Reminds me of the year tp did the Liverpool and City gk and def double stack. Lots of of people would have one from each team but not many people owned all 4.

Nobody wanted Mane because everyone started with Salah, Trent and Tsimikas then when Tsimikas left everyone went Jota instead because who wants to pay an additional 4.5m for less than one extra point a game?

But at that time I think a lot of people (myself at least) had Salah/Trent as locked in plop players, and Tsimikas as fodder because Robertson was out - then Robertson came back the same game Firmino got hurt, so you got Jota pretty much guaranteed to start and way easier to get into your team. Plus it's Jota and upgrading somewhere else with 4.5m, not like for like.

But I pretty much just play template because it's easy to win my money leagues just following the herd

when firmino hurt his hammy jota became a super obvious xfer in imo. now that firmino is back, jota is more speculative.

but yeah, tsimikas benched sorta coincided with jota in. i dont think anyone has been looking at mane because you'd have to have bailed on the most obvious chalk liverpool players (which itself is a function of bad pricing from FPL towers)

i wish they had the balls to just make dudes like Salah 14m out the gate, but i guess that makes it harder to fit rosters for rec players that wanna have fun. softer pricing = more points, more points = more engagement

I was wondering where I heard this story, then I remembered I read Parlour's biography.

It was a decent read as well for such stories - a particular highlight is when they forgot to buy gifts for their families before a holiday (so everything was closed) and Martin Keown, blind drunk, stole a huge plant from a hotel they were staying in - as a gift for his missus.

Firmino played quite well yesterday and figured in the build up to two of the first half goals. Liverpool lead the league in goals and with wingers like Mane and Salah its more than fine to have a number 9 who isnt a goal scorer, but for some reason people love to piss on this guy. Do any of the Spurs fans have any thoughts on Kane right now? He didn't exactly look up for it yesterday, is that a one-off or a recurrent feature this season?

When Kane and Son are firing they are going to be able to give most sides a game. When they aren't they are fairly bland.
