When will people realise that xG is predominantly a measure of chance creation? Far more so than a 'run hot' measure.
Turning an xG of 3.1 into 8 goals tends to mean a key thing. You're turning half chances into goals. That means you're good, far more than it means you're running hot.
A low xG doesn't mean your goalscorers are rubbish, it means those who set up the chances are rubbish.
For example. A perfect through ball that gives you time to take the shot from the optimal position gets a higher value than a crap through ball that makes you hit it first time from further out or further wide.
Why does Kane want to play with De Bruyne? Because the chances he provides have a higher xG than those provided by Ndombele.
