Xhaka or Ceballos has started nearly every game in CM for Arsenal this season. Hard to win with that. Partey has had a bad season, so we have what...the 13th best midfield in the PL? What are you doing with that?

Half of the other starters are either ~19 or new to the PL.

the lack of self awareness from Arsenal fans I've come across is amusing from where I sit. And everything you've said is pretty bang on.

I also really don't understand the constant undying support for Arteta when he hasn't been good as a manager so far (8th and 10th in successive seasons doesn't = good imo). It seems like he's some Arsenal legend when he played way more matches for Everton than he did Arsenal.

Though I speak for all other fans in saying: please keep up the lack of self awareness and be satisfied with what is being put out

Haaland is a pipe dream anyway. But yes, I absolutely would much rather go with Sancho and utilize Cavani and Greenwood at CF. United actually do have the strikers when chances are being created and we've been utter **** on the right wing this year

Sancho for me. I doubt we're even seriously in the running for Håland anyway with the price and Raiola factors.

Re: English Football 2020-21 - now with 100% additional Yorkshire

I like Arteta. He is clearly a smart man who understands the game better than Emery did imo. He is not without faults. I think he needs a lot of work on substitutions/game management and his starting lineups have been questionable at times as well.

But the team hasn't been fit all year. Partey only has 1200 PL minutes. Auba, after being as good as anyone in the PL last season, has been miles behind Lacazette this season. Tierney, ESR, Xhaka, Luiz, Martinelli have all had lengthy or untimely injury spells.

Partey and Auba being bad alone will ruin your season. For the others...if David Luiz or Grant Xhaka being out can ruin your year, you have deeper problems.

The hope is that Arsenal do actually have a lot of funds they can raise in selling players not good enough.
Torreirra, Guendouzi are almost certain to go and can get ~15-25 million each.
Willock, Lacazette and Bellerin are maybes, that could fetch 15-35.
Ceballos is gone.

I know backup LB, CAM and backup GK are the current priorities, but I think #1 should be another good CM for beside Partey. We're a "big" team but the top half of the league plus Wolves have better CM options than we do.

For United, RW or CF I guess is a slightly easy question when there is maybe only 1 elite CF available in world football.

I've thought Kavanaugh has done a good job every match I remember this year, in a year when officials have not been good in general.

Re: English Football 2020-21 - now with 100% additional Yorkshire

I dont know if liking Arteta for being smart is reason enough to keep him on, along with Edu.

There are some serious doubts for me over the way the squad has been handled this season. I thought Saliba had some issues and that was the reason why he was shipped back to France, but his comments suggest otherwise. Not sure of Guendo is just a headcase, but he showed some skills and flare, not sure if we want to get rid just yet due to a bustup.

Where is Gabriel? Why are we starting different CB partnerships every other game when there are no injuries? Why were we playing a formation with players who never tried that before in the EL semi-final? Seemed kind of Pep-ish, but we dont have those players.

Their positives are brining youth through the system, but the sceptic in me would ask if this was due to necessity? Nonetheless they did a good job for signing up Saka/Balogun/Martinelli/ESR.

Although could you imagine Wenger finishing 8th and 10th in a row? What would have the fans done to him? Don't get me wrong I'm 100% for keeping the manager as long as the atmosphere around the club is good and the players trust him and his process, but I think that is gone.

And I also have to be brutally honest, not sure if I would trust the same guys who signed Cedric/Mari for 4 and Willian for 3+1 to spend our money for another summer window. Think this showed that whatever we are doing doesnt work and this year there is no trophy to mask our pathetic slide into nothingness.

I had full hope in Arteta and co to restructure and rebuild the squad, not even necessarily over 1 season either, but damn, this one was especially bad with a lot of brand new things wrong both on and off the pitch which does make me wonder if we could jump back to more successful ways with the current people making the calls.

Re: English Football 2020-21 - now with 100% additional Yorkshire

I really like Guendouzi as a player. He had bust ups at PSG, then Lorient, then multiple times at Arsenal. A club as big as Arsenal can find someone of his talent without his temperament.

I couldn't imagine Arsenal finishing 8th or 10th under Wenger because we had the best to at worst 5th best squad during any of his years. If you asked the neutrals itt to say rank the teams on paper, Arsenal are probably 7th. Do we think Arsenal have a better team than Leicester or Spurs?

We got Garlick in to deal with contracts btw, so someone entirely new is heading that up.

I also just learned Pato is playing in the MLS now.

If only Everton play like they do away at Goodison they'd be right in the mix for top 4
