I would say that we want it but we are clearly aiming for second.

It's annoying as **** because we all kick up saying how, how can you award that or not award or give that and not that? Then at half time or full time the ref in the studio will say article whatever states whatever so it's the correct call. Then the pundits/former players will say it's RIDICULOUS, THEY NEED TO GET FORMER PLAYERS IN SO THEY UNDERSTAND THE GAME! Completely missing the point. Then the follow day a statement will come out from the PGMOL to say it was correct call.

I don't think they'll bring in a rule/law change in that if you flick/kick the ball into the arm/hand in the box from within a meter it's a pen. Every single player will be doing it.

Completely different story if it's a shot or they're block a cross etc
I think there's a lot of nuance and gray area in certain decisions. Most of the time I'm able to see the refs side and understand why a call was made even if I might disagree. This wasn't one of them. There's no world in which this shouldn't be called a hand ball and a penalty and it's egregiously bad to not do so.

I don't think so...

Look at the situation, ball is played up at shoulder height, they're pretty much touching each other as well. I don't see how he can realistically react and remove his arm away in that situation. He's moving his left leg as well to 'block' the path.

That's why it hasn't been given and I can see them not awarding similar ones in the future either - unless they change the rules to a similar thing to the hockey one 64 mentioned above which would ruin the game IMO

That was one of the worst quality football matches I have seen.

Barkley is a tree. I'm getting 8bus sterling levels of hate for him.

His arm goes to the ball and it impedes the player from progressing past him because of it. Also the ball was moving slow and his arm position is unnaturally far away from his body. It's such a slam dunk no brainer call that it's monstrously egregious that it isn't given.

Hard to square the handball being given against Fulham (disallowing the equalizer!) and not there.

No it isn't, it's really easy as the handball given against Fulham is because of a completely different part of the handball law - the part that says you can't score a goal immediately after the ball strikes an attacking players hand/arm, regardless of intention.

They’ve now changed that part fwiw comes into effect in June.

Bonkers really.

Common sense should come into it but I’m thinking if the VAR did use common sense to over rule or advise or whatever they’d be “demoted” for getting it wrong. Even if they did get a positive response from everyone.

A West Brom win is vital to ensure the best possible relegation scrap here.

If Brighton manage to go down they are going to wonder how they did it.
