I loved Wenger but still thought it was time to transition away from him sooner rather than later. The reality was the transition after him was likely always going to be rough. I honestly thought they were a year or two late and missed some really good candidates like tuchel.

The problem was Gazidis, a giant snake, not Wenger. Then Gazidis found Raul, an even bigger snake and we're still fixing those errors.
