agreed with all of this though. It's like how it's fun seeing Bournemouth/blackpool/bradford get promoted (almost said Huddersfield, but they are probably bigger than those clubs if even slightly)

Yeah, Brentford are probably the closest thing England has to the A's. Analytic based approach on a small budget.

Brentford's a weird one, their analytics seem to think that selling what's turned into two thirds of the fourth best defence in the PL for mid 7 figures is a good idea, and the last game they played against us was remarkable in that they had an extra man for more than half the game, but rather than opting to use that advantage to create really good chances (which, given they should know exactly what our defence can do, ought to be easy), had 24 shots off target and eventually conceded a second on the break

Seems to make a lot of sense for City given they're light on homegrown players. Maybe this means they'll move on from Stones now

i went to watch brentford on an international break when they were the only football in london. it was in league 1 and they had around 5000 people there including the 1000 away fans. lost 3-1 too

charming stadium but they were the furthest from a premier league team you could imagine

I haven't seen him play barely at all this season, but wouldn't mind Stones at Arsenal (even though we already have a quite large collection of CBs)

Chelsea obviously have a lot to improve on defensively, but I don't think either Zouma or Rudiger are bad at all. Probably don't have a spare 40m lying around for the buyback after they splurge on Havertz.

If we got Mustafi, Luiz, Sokratis off the books Stones would have been fine. Having Saliba/Stones/Mari/Chambers as our CBs would be fine to start.

im confused by stones. i remember last season maybe it was, there was videos going round every other game at how sick stones is doing. About how he dominated napoli etc etc etc. How hes stepping up under pep.

Then he got an injury, apparently broke up with his girlfriend/wife. And not a single positive thing has been said about him since. Did he just run hot for half a season or something? or is his head just totally gone?
