Yeah he does like 90% at least on eurosport1 at least, they've got some others who'll do streams and the odd TV match in big tournaments, but he's still the voice of snooker here.

Ozil interview with the Ornacle in the Athletic today. Basically says he's going to run his contract down.

I think it’s down to him rightly refusing a pay cut as he wasn’t convinced it was going to save jobs which he’s turned out to be spot on.

New season fixtures out by next Friday at the latest. No winter break. No replays for the FA Cup and one leg semis for the League Cup

A bit awesome.

They should trim the number of European fixtures if they haven't already.

Good on him. Hope he bleeds Raul and co. dry until the last day of his contract for how he’s been treated during this saga as well as when he spoke out against China’s concentration camps and was silenced by the club.

He deserves every pound he’s owed for giving us some of his prime years with that donkey Giroud, Welbeck, Campbell and Walcott as our strike force.

Man this is coming around again fast.

Figured they’d scrap the League Cup this year.

Do the purists have anything to say about the no FA Cup replays? Just wondering, as baseball is starting extra innings with a runner on second now and also doing 7-inning doubleheaders, which I get, but most diehards universally hate. Must be said though that the US and MLB is a complete shitshow and the PL actually has its stuff in order.

why even have the league cup? teams only care about it anyway if they get to the semis. May as well just be done with it

You're giving him too much credit, he's best buddy with a dictator

I'd say it's down him rightly taking the money because he can

I hope uefa continue the straight knock outs. So much better. Unseeded draw as well.

Yup and at least he’s getting credit from the U.K. media too

I hope, when crowds are back, that they go with the often mentioned idea of letting the lower ranked team in a tie decide whether to play at home or away.
By lower ranked, I mean if they are in different divisions. If they’re in the same division, play as drawn out of the hat.

Yeah, it's up to Ozil to take the money. I'll always be on team player in that example, but let's not moralise him too much given the company he keeps.

PC - no issue with removing Cup replays for this season, the schedule is going to be too crowded, just fear it'll be an excuse to keep it permanently

The ideal for me is no replays beyond the 4th round. End of the day, the ‘romance of the cup’ is normally over by then anyway and who really wants to see Spurs v Watford (or whatever) twice?

Would be fine with removing from 5th round in principle, but it'd just be continual mission creep in practice

I have nothing against Ozil other than that I don't believe he works his ass off to be the best version of himself on the pitch he can be. Everything else is for the tabloids.

Perhaps the FA Cup should just be a penalty shoot-out competition? It would keep the "romance of the cup" alive (as underdogs would have decent chances to advance), but prevent UCL team players from having to expend playing time, thus making the world a better place for those team owners.

If anyone ever liked the old NBC Skit "Ted Lasso" a college football coach that moved to the UK to become the manager of Tottenham, it is a tv show that came out today 7~ years later.

Never heard of it. Not going to lie I won't watch it.

Reminded me of that super coach who became Swansea manager and was just absolutely hopeless.

Owners and TV would never go for it for money reasons obviously, but if they want fewer matches, I'd rather they keep the two-legged ties but scrap group stages

His lack of interest about doing anything productive is kind of appalling, but yea he is well within his right to do so.

Maybe players sitting out after mega contracts will change clubs' attitudes towards said contracts.

have a tough time wrapping my head around sales and such instead of trades, basically something considered indefensible in the US to sell a player instead of trading them for other assets - i know in the end it's all the same and using cash as a medium far more efficient especially with so many teams and leagues but it always struck me as funny that the business first US franchises have fan bases who'd never forgive a sale whereas it's standard in europe

like TJ Warren in the NBA, had the Suns traded him nobody would care, and yet it regularly is seen as the dumbest thing in the world that they sold him without receiving any players back
