Decided to be less FPS this year to go out of my way to make sure I wouldn't have to wc early. Trossard really the only ambitious pick and he looks good so far. FPL is boring when everyone's team is pretty similar though, thanks a lot city/pool.

my feeling on that is: good. Plenty of other teams have played negative football to stay up in the prem and I never felt the disdain towards those teams that I do/did towards Stoke. There was just something I couldn't put my finger on that made me dislike them greatly.

Yeah, I tried after work and queued for about 90 minutes and was offered nothing that wasn't retracing my steps, impossible logistically, or Baku

this was my first year doing fantasy and i was excited, so what i did was build an optimizer model in excel to fit the best players w their according salaries

my first draft (which was used for week 1) didnt account for the captain bonus. captain bonus makes it mandatory to have some studs, my excel build ended up spitting out a lot of guys who were priced very good in the 6-8 range (and the excel build loved liverpool clean sheets so had to spend up for van dijk, allison, and TAA)

my wild card lineup sorta fixed this error, but i've learned that my model is kinda suboptimal cuz ultimately u wanna have some good guys who are the absolute cheapos so that u can fit in a lot of studs. a lot of my excel logic was built off of trying to fit in the most value among the 15 slots, when really i needed to be finding the best value for 11 slots + the basement bin best value subs. i will prob finish last in my leagues this year lol but it's a learning process.

i kinda feel like the way EPL goes most people would want to use their wild card early so as to lock in those minprice guys in the defender and midfielder slots before their price gets bumped by 0.1

now i'm slowly rebuilding my lineup w/ 2 transfers every 2 weeks, hehe.

i'm deeply regretting taking what if bench options... severely underestimated how frequently a stud player would ride the bench and that it would have been nice to have gotten something more than 3 minutes from the guy who filled in for him

next year will definitely consider floor much more with my bench guys

spent 3 mins thinking about it and took a load of fairly cheap blokes who play for shitty teams and take the penos/fks/corners, currently 3rd out of 55, easy game

I considered doing this myself, there's actually a number of data options easily available as well as scheduling factors to include as well

there's in fact way more data on soccer for fpl purposes than DFS purposes, which is how I discovered FPL because nearly all the data I was scraping for DFS wasn't being used there but for FPL

this is my first season of FPL and I'm beginning to realize that it's much more about stability than anything else - i got distracted by all the transfer talk to think that's what it was all about when in reality, it's much more a talking point because that's really the only thing they are able to do other than just stare blankly at a screen - it's much more a set it and forget it system than anything else and regret taking so many "what if someone gets hurt and this guy starts?" players

Ye, I'm a much bigger fan of DFS, but everyone and their mother just play FPL.

I remember having Defoe and Bent up top the first year I participated. Not the most optimal strat but did make for some memorable moments (spurs 9-1 wigan, defoe bagging 5).

And of course the Bent beachball goal against plop. Imagine being a utd fan in a bar full of plop fans and having Bent in your team and that happening. Pretty sure only the birth of my first born will top that.

You will enjoy forgetting to change your team do transfers 2 out of 3 weeks at the start and abandon your team to rot like I do half the seasons. Then inevitably when I do remember to do them it's last minute and I cost myself 0.2 week in week out until my team is worth 4m less than the league leaders and I'm ****ed. Stupid game lol.

Last year I was super into it and did well but this year I dunno, not feeling it. Might be because TAA/Robbo are so expensive now that the rest of my team is meh

Maybe it’s my inner sense of adventure, but I’d honestly be down for going to Baku to see matches given that it’s unlikely I’d ever go there otherwise. It also looks like a pretty modern city and could h a pretty cool experience.

Granted, if I was actually looking for euro 2020 tix, there are certainly places I’d rather go first (Bilbao, Budapest, Munich come to mind right away), but it seems like it could be a pretty cool opportunity to do something different.

Eh, for a match or two I doubt it’s all that bad. Plus, I’m blonde haired and have blue eyes, I highly doubt that I would run into anti-Armenia problems. I’m not saying it would be top of my list, but basically all of the other host cities are ones that I will likely get to in the next 15 years if cancer or a heart attack don’t take me out
