How could Allison be worth close to that price? He's not even as good as lolEderson.

We are in desperate need of a keeper and have been for years. We have a squad actually capable of cementing top 4/challenging for a title/making a deep CL run and we can't possibly go into that with Karius or Mignolet again. Klopp has identified Alison, who plays ahead of Ederson for Brazil, as the best out there, and the club has agreed to "overpay" Seems pretty cut and dry to me

Was VVD "worth" that much? Probably not but to Liverpool he was. And he made a massive difference

Maybe Klopp would have been better served to not identify Karius as a keeper to buy in the first place

I think he was always a project. What was he 5m? But Mignolet was so bad he was thrust into the 1st team quicker than Klopp wanted and we found out he just isn't good. Not a horrible mistake for 5m by any means but it def cost as a CL unfortunately

So, just the same this summer as every summer for the past 25 years then.

Long may the LolPlop continue.

my stat-based approach suggests there is only a 0.62% chance that allison is better than ederson, who btw is the best keeper in the prem (lol at the 7 times in a row man utd player of the year)

He's not, but the whole world knows that Liverpool need a keeper badly.

That's how it works.

I won't be surprised if Schmeichel ends up at Chelsea if Courtois goes. He'll probably be about 40m

If constant improvement each season under Klopp and a CL Final is lolPlop what exactly is Spurs?

rumour is that they want at least 50, but maybe they can get a discount by returning Drinkwater

if Courtois is going to Madrid i think they might as well just work a swap for Navas (+cash, hopefully)

No thanks.

As I said, I think the market has moved a bit too far the other way. If we go out of the Europa League before the group stages I might be tempted, although there's probably too much exposure to be worth it at the current odds.

i don't buy this line. vvd was worth it because great centrebacks are very valuable. the goalkeeper isn't worth it because he's just a goalkeeper. they're all annoying and will mistakes every now and then and you just need to have one unfortunately

Looks like the market have finally cottoned on that Burnley aren't a terrible side. Gonna have to find other ways to make money off you mugs this season.
You don't seem to be liking Wolves, I'd be interested in taking the over for a tenner on whatever the points line is once we're closer to the transfer window being done and I can see more than one points line (Sporting Index look to be at 46-47.5 right now for reference)

In. Expecting another utterly underwhelming season as an Everton fan, though I'll have my customary stab at betting the handicap vs Liverpool on the basis that plop are always over-rated (got that one badly wrong last year, but I doubt they unearth another Salah / Robertson this season) and the market often undervalues Everton (got that one wrong last year too, though we won't be spunking hundreds of millions on a handful of showcase signings that all turn out to be slow and mediocre this season).

Predictions: City have the league sewn up by Christmas, United bore their way to a comfortable second, Arsenal overperform expectations but still fail to get near the top 2. Flop of the season will be Tottenham who look prime stagnation material. I quite fancy Bournemouth for relegation.

Watford are the only side not to be promoted this year or last expected to finish below Burnley.

I expect a good top 4 push from Arsenal. I've dreaded the start of seasons the last ~6 years or so, back from whenever Cesc left. Arsenal haven't had a season since where the club was prepared to start the season match week 1. Every year we had injuries, players being rested and transfers needing to be sorted.
Everyone is healthy, incoming transfers are done. Rough start to the season, but it's a good squad. Interested to see how CB and CM works itself out.
