Fwiw the piece is hilariously badly written, and no sources are given for any of the stats he uses, so if he's trying to build a media career he best only be aiming for the Sunday Sport or something.

i agree it's a bad piece. i did some googling a couple of weeks back, but it's hard to tell exactly what's going on with the stadium finances. it seems to have cost £400m or maybe a bit more. the rest up to the 1bn seems like hotels and real estate which should make them money because it's london even if it's not the most exclusive part

£400m is a lot and it's weird they haven't found a sponsor for the name. the stuff about front loading the money isn't that important in itself but you would think that a lot of the value in buying/selling a name comes in establishing it from the start.

spurs will be fine because they have a ton of pl + cl money and they're only barely paying their players, but maybe the stadium has been so ambitious/extravagant it will cost them some money they'll not get back from added revenue. levy and co might take a hit. it looks fantastic though

Donna Cullen stated specifically in a Q&A this week the stadium is costing £350-400m. The rest of the Northumberland Project is the balance, consisting of 600 homes and a hotel.

One would assume the hotel and housing are self-financing (or why build them). the football club are therefore on the hook for max £400m, of which iirc £200m has already been paid, and I would guess the remaining £200m will come from a 10-15 year naming rights deal.

im quite sure that there is a deal in place and the media team is just waiting for the right time to announce it

My £18ish seems like the right amount. Happy to call it £18.50 unless you wanna go £55 to £20 for round numbers?

Take your pick and consider it booked

£350-400m feels a little low considering they've gotten something like £400m in financing plus some credit plus they've probably spent some money themselves. and the housing/hotel part is still being planned. it probably also depends a bit on how you divide expenses between the stadium and the overall project though.

selling naming rights for 200m (barca are getting apparently getting €300m for 20 years for their new stadium+arena+surroundings project) isn't going get you all the money today either

but yeah they're going to be fine

For those who still care one iota for poker the absolute ****show that is the Doug Polk/Fernando Habbeger/scarfs/mastermind affair has been fun reading with no dog in the fight

The first thread I think was actually in the transactions feedback forum but it all eventually cascades together.

TL;DR

Everyone is a scumbag one way or another

No idea if the scarves were the dual-team ones, in which case it is definitely worth going to war over...

Lol seems I've got wrong end of the stick.

Thought I was getting odds for UTD to finish outside the top4.

Really don't want to lay odds on that, sorry bud.

And I still haven't explained myself right......

I thought I was getting 11/4 for UTD to finish in the top 4 places.

Been a long day lol.

Certain I seen an advert something like 'let's have a look at Spurs new Hewlett Packard stadium' a few weeks ago.

No chance they're getting £200m for naming rights. That's a mental number.

We've just won the Betway Cup, lads.

Seems like the Fulham owners have got more money than sense. Mike Ashley must be laughing all the way to the bank. 22 million notes down the drain on Mitrovic. He's playing with the big boys now, I expect less than 5 goals this season. He's immobile, temperamental and 1 dimensional. He missed at least 4 gilt edged chances for Serbia in the WC, basically single handedly dragged down his own country.

No Emirates cup this year is a travesty

Want to put any money on that? I'm thinking 50$ even money with no injury or minutes played clause

You are sillier than 8bus and Agüero...or on that level
07-31-2018 , 05:27 PM
£22m barely buys you a bean these days. Seems about right for Mitrovic.
07-31-2018 , 06:03 PM
Over 5.5 outfield league goals $50?

edit - why $$?

I don't know those posters but I am entitled to an opinion. I posted before the Serbia group games and was proven correct.

Mitrovic was probably the best player I saw in the second half of last season including everyone on Wolves' team, and I'm incredibly bullish on Wolves as a whole

booked. $ is my preferred currency

A lot of strikers look good in the championship - Gayle, Jutkiewicz, Le Fondre, Nugent et al.

Doesn't mean they're any good though. Mitrovic shouldn't be anywhere near the Premiership, shouldn't even be in joke leagues like the Eredivisie or Scandi/Russian top flights. He is appalling.

Thread getting good. dairuss86 early running for YPOTY
