Nah, it's almost like for like.

She's a lying tory bastard that enables the very worst of *Saudi Arabia to slaughter whoever they like.

*I'm sure there are other places she enables by sending brit weapons to them.

Would it have been ok to compare Blair with Erdogan during the Iraq war years?

So on the new statsbomb podcast they talk about how their new xG model with the better data they've collected that accounts for defensive and keeper positioning has Burnley at 9th/10th from last season as opposed to most naive xg models have them at 15th/16th.

it was dumb, but it seems wild that it set off such a heated debate. people were hanging out with putin all world cup and nobody really cared. dictators and criminals own football clubs and are mostly welcomed. half the big names in football got paid to be ambassadors for qatar 2022 and so on. everybody kills people. i doubt özil has that many political convictions anyway.

and then it seems like it was used to hide behind by the people responsible for the failure. the real villains that committed crimes against their country are the guy that thought a kroos - khedira - özil midfield could work and those that put him in charge

Tell me more about xG not being reliable...

I'll wait for my new and improved model to tell you what they are this season. Should be ready around the end of May

It's getting better all the time though. You'd be a fool to discount advanced metrics as a whole.

They have value obviously but are taken for gospel way too often

Ali G still got it.

Guy with his arse out pretending to intimidate ISIS a highlight already (was opening segment lol).

Pretty much this. People ITT swore blindly on last years now naive model.

There wouldn't have been any arguments or debates last year if that model had Burnley right slap bang in the middle of the table as new and improved xG has them. Glad we can all finally agree that they where actually good last year

Will probably be the same this year though, I hope not though as it's mind numbing.

Anyone else wanting to back Plop -3 against United?

This is the new and improved model though!

Ozil's agent absolutely slaughtered Hoeness. Read his statement if you haven't already.

Advanced metrics are still new to football and will be changing and improving year on year. Anyone who discounts football metrics are, as you say, a fool.

In what way would you consider it naive? We know technology and data evolves. Nobody is ****ting on last years Iphone the next edition comes out.

Ozil's agent is worth his weight in gold, must be nice to have a dude in your corner that just ethers your trolls.

Noted, thought you were referencing the system as a whole.

I wonder what the model will be like next year.
No doubt it will be engineered to justify the positions that don't fit with this year's model.
07-23-2018 , 07:32 PM
So you think you're reverse engineering a statistical model before the input of tens of thousands of variables?

So of the model isn't predictive what exactly is it? You put in tens of thousands of variables to arrive at a conclusion we already know?

at least the xR^2 will be good
07-23-2018 , 08:09 PM
anyway its the fbips that are the masters of reverse engineering. find a pub and within 15 mins you'll overhear someone rotund say 'i told my mate bob that salah was criminally underrated when chelsea sold him, bob, bob come here and back me up'
07-23-2018 , 08:17 PM
xG doesn't predict this season's results because of too many variables right? I'd love our fat bloke on 2p2 v xG predictions
