I'd like to also announce my retirement from international football

The whole Erdogan thing still wasn’t a good look in the first place, but I could not be more proud of him. You could tell how much he was hurting. He really goes scorched earth on the DFB president.

**** them all. They don’t deserve him.

Im a bit shocked. Was this incited by his meeting with Erdogan? Or that is a completely different topic?

In all seriousness I've just read his statement and that's worthy of respect for sure. I don't quite follow the logic of "I have Turkish heritage therefore I should respect the Turkish President even though he's a fascist" but he does seem sincere in his beliefs and I like seeing people stand up for themselves. He gets the first OSTRICH THUMBS UP* of the season

*this is a working title for a new series of endorsements that I plan to roll out over the coming season. I'm aware that ratites do not have opposable thumbs.

Looking forward to the series.

Also just read his full statement. Powerful stuff. Have to process it still...

Now that Macclesfield are back in the league I can hopefully use their coaches to get some of the longer league 2 games if they don't clash with our home games (maybe Exeter, Forest Green, Stevenage, Colchester). Don't know how long it would take, if I got it under 20 to go I might make more of an effort the same way I did to complete the Bundesliga pre-Brexit
Nice. Gimme a shout when you do Swansea and we can grab a beer

Ozil is someone who has handlers and agents really handle his social media and his public image. This statement though feels genuine and not done by some sort of statement done by a PR firm.

The PR firm was probably responsible for the three part statement including a multiple our cliffhanger though.

I say this knowing plop are playing a b side for Dortmund but Keita looks pretty ****ing good. If Fabinho is halfway decent they’re going to be absolutely terrifying when you plug in mane firmino and salah. They’re going to dick the league

I would imagine lfc is torn in seeing pulisic absolutely destroy plop rn

Kids an absolute stud

Would any of the krauts care to weigh in on the "Was fairly criticised for meeting with a fascist" v. "Was racially abused" debate?? Thanks!!

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness on Mesut Ozil’s retirement: “He has been playing like crap for years. He last won a tackle before the 2014 World Cup. All he is doing on the field is playing sideways passes.”
"And now he hides himself and his awful form behind this photo. Whenever we played against Arsenal, we targeted him because we knew he was the weak point."
“No-one questioned that he was playing crap at the World Cup. His 35 million follower boys, who of course do not exist in the real world, believed that he has played excellently."
im starting to like this convicted criminal

put him back in the gulag imo

The racism defenders have logged on, exciting when a take as hot as "racism is bad" upsets people like Hoeness.

I mean, on the one hand its def a tell when you call someone a turkish xxxx or tell him to eff off back to anatolia.

but its also kinda strange when the guy posing with a huge smile next to a murderous dictator says its not political.

so Id say both sides suck.

The odd thing is that people seem to think that you have to support one side of this or the other. What Ozil did was extremely ****ed up and is right to be criticised, but the general mood of what people like Lukaku/Ozil etc have said is also ****ed up.

Ozil has to take responsibility for meeting Erdoğan, and for not being very good at the World Cup.

Some dumb racists on Twitter doesn't excuse him on either count.

I doubt anyone would be calling Jordan Henderson a white **** and go back to saxony if he met Theresa May.

The complete lack of public support from any German teammates on this is more indicative of the reason they **** the bed at the world cup than what Ozil and Gundogan did.
07-23-2018 , 11:23 AM
Comparing Theresa May (who I am no fan of) to Erdogan makes you come off very poorly.
07-23-2018 , 11:25 AM
german media is like gosh this wretch totally failed to take into account the obvious and numerous geopolitical considerations while discharging his duty of furthering the diplomatic goals of the german state

guy kicks a ****ing ball full of air around for a living

I am pointing out hypocrisy. Merkel has met and posed for photos with Erdogan countless times and even sells him weapons. No problem with that right?

Don’t understand why Liverpool haven’t bought another attacking option besides Shaqiri.
