On the flip side, Burnley proved beyond all reasonable doubt that they're better than Southampton.

burnley had an approx 0.65xg headstart as a result of being the home team

soton 0.03xg superior

Preety sure it does. But you can believe whatever the **** you want.

Whats going on here is that your basic tribalism makes you think that Im saying Liverpool is awesome and your basic primate instinct is to tell me that Liverpool isnt awesome.

I never gave any valuation to the fact that our fan base is more nice to managers than other fan bases, I find it good when we are in a run of 5 bad results but when the manager has had a clearly dissapointing season and his transfers have clearly failed ( think Rodgers last full season) then I find it a bit annoying iyam.

Hodgson is a specific case because he didnt get the club identity. People just disliked him for not saying that the owners sucked. An important part of being a manager is knowing what to say to the media, it gives you more leeway when the team gets in a bad run.

Also Im glad I havent been called out on defending Burnley as being the 7th best team in english football, good news that when I defied posters to give me a better team I was offered Southampton.

EDIT: I saw the table and Burnely somehow are still 7th and in their way to Europe, go me!

This disingenuous take reminded me of this Carlos Carvalhal clanger. I can't remember if it was talked about here or not.

And that's without winning since mid December. Everyone outside the top six are pretty crap really.

Burnley not winning since mid December is not a great case for them being 7th best imo

I made my case before Burnley decided to become crap. Now it looks like Leicester is going to return to Europe. Although I would rather have Burnley get a shot of playing european football.

Still true along with another 8-10 teams.

We even won the xG.
Just watched the highlights. Tbh, I'm not sure what's supposed to happen by the letter of the law when the ref gets in the way. Whether it's the players' responsibility not to get in his way or w/e. I've never seen anything other than playing on. Dyche doing his usual fanny flapping after the game, Gabbiadini def not fouling at the end, neither is it a penalty at the end.

Difficult to gauge from highlights but we looked really bad. Next 3 PL games are Stoke (H), Newcastle (A), and West Ham (A), quite desperately need 5/6 points from those.

Can't be arsed to check, but I'm pretty sure this is close to normal.
