I appreciate there's a different dynamic in that both yourselves and Dortmund can potentially compete for titles, but I think that a lot of non-native people don't appreciate how fierce a lot of the rivalries are here. I just use S04/BvB as an example as it's the most obvious one where there's a lot of clear hate

KW doing work ITT. Please can we stop talking about the mets or w/e.

In for all the prediction stuff, sixfour's idea sounds great. I'm also up for picking some dead fpl teams for a tenner a go against people. Fond memories of the year that I did it with Kw and he picked danny Ings

Add another Yank football fan to the thread. I've been following for a few years now and figured it would be a good time to actually start posting. I'm similar to some of the other Americans in that picking a "team" has been a process. As of now, my favorite is probably Manchester United. I catch almost all their matches either live or recorded and have found myself jumping off the couch for big goals (or draws this season). I even got my wife to agree to go to the sorta Manchester Derby in Houston, Texas this July. I also watch a lot of other teams like Liverpool and Southampton but don't always make time for their matches. Plus I try to keep up with some of the American players over there.

Damn the bus has started a revolution.

WELCOME YANKS

The goal this year is 50k poasts.

Gonna be an elite season. Let us TRANSFERS

See, ManU/Liverpool/teams with red kit...it's a thing.
06-15-2017 , 08:20 PM
Haha, maybe it is the red kits. Although I will say I really don't like that obnoxiously large chevy logo on the United shirts (tops?). I would rather them have a generic gambling website or something.

jfc

obviously not, in this case, a process in which to trust

was it Mourinhaids or LolvanGaalol-ball that convinced you?

Haha, weirdly I started liking them because I saw Rooney in a World Cup and started liking him. I think it was the 2006 World Cup where he stepped on that guy's groin. Obviously I didn't like that moment but he was entertaining to watch in the other games. I didn't watch much other than world cups until the last few years so I started with watching his team. The last few seasons have definitely been frustrating and somewhat boring. I think United have some exciting players though and hopefully they actually try to win some more games this year.

Read Pep Confidential. Great read. The author spends a year with almost full access to Bayern during Pep's first year there. I have a lot more appreciation and respect for what he does. Last year was my first year following the PL and kinda came off like a clown. But seems he's not pushing buttons like most American coaches. Very comparable to Popovich in that he's looking to maximize every edge.

* Coutinho, Mané & Lallana are fun to watch.
* Enjoy to a lesser extent Henderson, Sturridge, Wijnaldum & Milner.
* Thoroughly enjoy that they have a guy whose name is basically American.
* I seem to like red uniforms, & I enjoy their new alternate uniforms much better than those fluorescent things.
* I get confused by everyone's opinions on their manager, but I think he's pretty fun.
* I think Anfield is a cool name for a stadium.

Liverpool cons:

* Not really that into Lucas, Matip, & Mignolet.
* Agnostic on Firmino.
* Name contains the word "liver".

United pros:

* Strong tradition.
* I like DDG, Pogba, & Bailly.
* I like to a lesser extent Rashford, Rojo, Martial, & Shaw, & think the Lindelof signing might be useful.
* Red uniforms, USA #1 sponsor.
* I think Old Trafford is a pretty cool name, too.
* On TV a lot, plus endless budget.

United Cons:

* Strongly dislike Rooney & Fellaini.
* Also not into Blind & Jones.
* Almost feels like rooting for the Yankees.
Cons Liverpool:
That guy LFC_USA is a Liverpool fan. And he's been AIDsing up the NBA threads lately. So not much high.

Cons United:
You get to watch Pogba should 10 yards over the goal from 25 yards out, at least twice a match.

rivalries honestly die out a bit when you rarely play each other. that's not wrong

In for any season-based gamblings, I think.

Also there will obv be another £10 thread FPL league
BBC do an IKTS, we'd just need someone to escrow. Cashy?

Mic_check would you mind? Holding if there was/is enough interest.

I quite like the 12x but understandably that's a hell of a task running that.

Maybe get one going for the CL and/or FA cup?

I could probably run a PEEHS as an offering to the thread & as an apology for talking about goaltenders' uniforms.

Good man, make sure someone proof reads it before you post it though

Yeah I can escrow stuff if needed although I am on holiday first 3 weeks of August so would prob confirm all payments in one go on eve of kick off pending internet access (I won't be super busy in may though)
06-16-2017 , 01:56 PM
Yeah go ahead JMurder but if you're new to football make sure to at least ask someone's opinion about questions. there is potential for a lot of fun questions
