Remind me when you last won anything and what that was exactly. Bean counting trophies don't count, obviously.

We beat the sheep 3 at their place, huns got a last minute penalty, they missed, hun got a red card and Kilmarnock equalised.

Seriously doubt anything in that link gonna top my night.

Promising stuff from Everton tonight. Still a bit of a defensive mess, but the energy and intent was there at least and Lookman in particular looks sharp and dangerous. I refuse to believe that Unsworth has made such an immediate impact though, and I put tonight's display more down to the squad having hit the bottom and becoming determined to have a go. In before drab 2-0 defeat at Leicester, I guess.

On an utterly random tangent, what's the best non-Radiohead album of the past 30 years? My daughter (who thanks in no small part to her dad is quickly becoming a huge old music hipster) asked me my thoughts on this tonight, and I'm initially going with R.E.M.'s New Adventures in HiFi but I'm keen to hear others' thoughts.

Handball is an Olympic sport that comes right after football in popularity in many euro countries. I don't it's much less popular than rugby overall, but English speaking countries ignore it

Re: school games. When we went to England on school exchange (ten years ago) we played a game called bulldog where two teams lined up about 50 meters apart from each other, started running towards the other team and then everyone tried to tackle whichever member of the opposing team he could get hold of. Was not very sophisticated, typically Essexian perhaps?

Aquemini

Sounds like Kabaddi on steroids and not like the variant of bulldogs we played

This was usually played with one guy in the middle trying to tackle anyone he could to the ground as everyone ran to the other side of the playing area. Once you were tackled you joined him in the middle. Last man standing wins. Occasionally played it where you had to be lifted off the ground to be caught which allowed for a lot more violence. I was the best at that game as a kid.

Foo Fighters- One by one is probably my favourite ever album. Only one whose songs i'm never not in the mood for when they come round on shuffle.

best single album? ah geez, too hard

today i'll say 1 of:

"The Downward Spiral" - Nine Inch Nails
"Nevermind" - Nirvana
"Random Access Memories" - Daft Punk
"Self-titled" - Rage Against the Machine
"Sound of Silver" - LCD Soundsystem

honourable mention to a couple dozen others...

I loved new adventures of HiFi like 6 years ago but don't think I've listened to it since.

I still think nevermind is slightly overrated (of at least worse than say, Slanted and Enchanted)

Neutral milk hotel and the pixies are the #2/3 "omg" live experiences I've had after radiohead so I might put aeroplane and Doolittle as strong contenders.
Turn on the bright lights edges out is this it as my favorite early 00s album
It's so hard to compare hip hop in 1988 to 2017. Comparing public enemy to Kendrick? Too tough.
Both spiderland by slint and lovelessby my bloody Valentine are close but they're more alternative.

Doolittle
In the Aeroplane over the sea
Turn on the bright lights

We called that bullrush in NZ. Tough being the small white kid at largely Maori/Pacific Island school, but an important formative experience nonetheless!

yeah this rings a bell. i think we played this when i was about 7 but the head was a bit of a health and safety nut so it got banned sharpish. we called it bulldog. he also banned conkers and full sized footballs. we were made to play football with a tennis ball wrapped in a pair of socks. i assumed there was a good reason for it at the time

not sure why it took me so long to figure out that a lot of adults, including this head teacher, are daft

Doolittle, Loveless Nevermind and The Downward Spiral all good shouts.

Gonna throw Moon Safari in. Certainly one of the most influential, although yeah any of Public Enemy's first 3 albums also qualify on that metric.

The correct answer is Daydream Nation tho.

Spiritualized - Laser Guided Melodies

The National - Boxer

Both reasonable shouts IMO. It was very good of BAIDS to add some comedy to proceedings by suggesting a pub rock album.

It's a different handball. It's like squash.

one touch one bounce

&

headers and volleys which we used to call "t**t". dont know why.

if you lose on either game people get to kick the ball at your back/ass from 10 yards away. pretty painful in winter

and curby if we got really bored.

also never lost a game vs other kids in 5aside down park. we were the GOAT at it in our endz

british bulldog also banned at my school for some stupid reason

yeah Bulldog was banned at our school too, however someone came up with the ingenious idea of re-naming it Crocodile. When Crocodile was banned we changed the name to Buffalo etc until the teachers got bored and went and picked on someone else.

Best album, impossible to pick just one even in a single genre nevermind overall.

I'll mention Megadeth - Rust in Peace though. Goddamn there isn't one bad moment on that entire album.

Everyone's pretty biased to old albums so of recent times, maybe Oracular Spectacular - MGMT. Wait it's like 10 years old already wtf?
