Is Burnley away form down to luck, or a structure and a plan?

I don't need some fancy 3000 word article with analysis to tell me it's luck. I can just look at xg maps.

Structure and plan wasn't too great last season, what was it 1 win? And while the percentages for blocking shots/shots outside the area have them high up, their huge total of shots faced means they are still taking more shots, shots on target, and shots inside the box than the vast majority of the league.

When you couple this with an abnormally high conversion rate at the other end yeah its luck.

It's almost as if they've learned and improved over time.

Learned how to have the opponents shoot the ball into their face and stomachs. Would love to have sat in on that Dyche training session.

Blocking is a skill. It's not purely luck when an opponent misses a shot. It's a complex combination. Same thing happens in basketball where you get guys who are really good at making people miss at a high rate.

I see it all the time where premier league footballers, paid a fortune, cower and shirk from blocks either resulting in it going in off or minimising the blocking area their body provides. The difference between players good in this regard (think peak John Terry) and weak ones is big.

It may be a combination of run good and specific effort for Burnley.

Well Nic has to watch plop every week he's confused by the concept of a defender being near the ball

No Christmas Eve PL games.

So, what, I'm supposed to talk to my family instead?

Instead Arsenal v Liverpool is at 7:45pm on Friday 22nd and Leicester v Man Utd the same time on Saturday 23rd.

Clearly much better.

Yes. Either that or get on the piss around lunchtime and watch One of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing, which should keep you occupied in the important 4-6pm slot.

That they choose to put games at really **** times after deciding not to put them at an absolutely horrendous time isn't something that I can defend. That doesn't mean that putting them on Christmas Eve was a good idea.

Don't see anything wrong with Ashley's behaviour re. Given.

There absolutely isn't tbf. It's probably one of those things where people feel sleighted due to the lack of personal interaction but Newcastle were never going to offer bumper contracts to anyone but Pardew apparently. He must be some drinker. Pards probably skulled a 10 glass bottle of vodka with Ashley and loved to tell the tale.

Michael Keane doesn't look the best when he's not sitting in that deep Burnley defensive line.

It's not exactly surprising that a defender looks better when playing in a well organised defensive unit.

I hope the idiot Everton fan getting involved whilst holding his child gets locked up.

Been banned by Everton already. Scousers man....
10-20-2017 , 08:58 AM
Some flimsy rumours flying around that Lamela has actually had a year ban instead of being injured.

Yea to an extent but he got roasted last night, albeit by very good players in Fekir and Traore.
