I'm also holding £120 for six people (including myself) for an extra league, although as LO's leagues were maxed out we don't have a table. I'll go back through my paypal/stars to check exactly who's in. Know that it's Me, TP, LO. Anyone else think it's them?

I've lived in Liverpool for 15 years, of course I know what it is.

Completely forgot about this, but looking back at the thread from the start of the season, it looks like the other three are from Chop, vruuuuk, thenickh, KW and mic_check.

I'm hoping mic_check isn't one of them as he's the only one currently ahead of me

Yeah, those all ring a bell, will confirm towards the end of the season.

Seems Sky have lost the La Liga coverage.

Yeah think that's a Liverpool thing. Although I do think I have heard people refer to rollies (tobacco) as bifters as well.

betfair/paddy shares down 5.5% today on Q1 results. the cold weather meant a load of horse racing cancellations + they ran bad in general (a load of faves have been winning recently - bad for bookies)

as a result, Q1 revenue fell slightly relative to 2017. however, underlying growth remains absolutely fine. todays share price drop implies that their business is worth 250-300m less than it was yesterday, which is lol - the one-off runbad factors cost shareholders maybe 20-30m

BUY MORTIMER BUY

(NB: the rumoured change to betting shop machine regulation has already been priced in, they took a big whack last week on that announcement (idk if it was priced in correctly or not))

also lostostrich hasnt been posting much lately, which suggests he might be working long hours, which means his income is probably up

ought to mean a better than expected Q2 for pp

This is now confirmed. The Leeds owner's company Eleven Sports has picked it up from next season. Guessing it'll be a streaming subscription service now.

It's the first time Betfair have mentioned that 'high value customer charges' are down as they're not winning as much. I've mentioned on here before that long term winners have to pay a premium charge each week ranging from 20-60% of their profit. Nice to see it's coming back to bite Betfair a bit.

I wonder if that's on the basis of Sky deciding they don't want to pay what they're currently paying or this new company outbidding.

PL didn't do especially brilliantly during their latest round of tv content auctions, in fact a couple of minor packages went unsold because no1 bid up to the reserve price

maybe the seemingly endless march to higher and higher content value has stalled
05-02-2018 , 08:34 AM
Yeah, but that could be a) people aren't willing to pay as much for football, or b) the PL has gone down in value compared to loliga

I can't remember what we decided on payouts, but PM me with your details and I'll sort it out.
Will PM you my paypal.

a bit old man yells at cloud here, but:

this doesn't surprise me much. i dunno if it's because i care about football less than i used to, but i never feel interested in watching any PL games any more that don't involve the top 6. obv the prem has been hugely imbalanced since it began, but it feels like now all the 'other' teams, except the odd promoted one, have no real identity or character, no players to get attached to cos it's a huge carousel of 6/10 guys moving to and fro every season, every good player on a small team gets transferred immediately, managers all last 6 months, etc. i used to be invested in who got relegated or not, now i don't care if anyone in the bottom half goes down cos they're basically all the same to me.

i wonder if other people feel like this also? which would explain the TV money going down as the majority of games are between these meh teams. or maybe i am just old and jaded.

i dont have much interest in the non big teams either as a rule, but there are fairly frequent interesting stories which emerge from the morass - the leicestering was obv the best thing to ever happen, blackpool's holloway season was kinda cool, wigan's last gasp escape from relegation every year for about 4 years in a row (poss biased), burnley this season woulda been a fun ride if i had never met TP etc

i also think the season has been a bit ****, which might be colouring your overall perception a little. title decided in december, top 4 decided in late march, mehhh. maybe with a more interesting top 6 you'd feel less jaded

also possible that the leicester season just ruined football forever and we're on an inevitable slow slide into the depths of blah from now on, until eventually some other sport takes over (rocket league possibly?)

Only 2 good seasons in the last 5 years have been 2013-14 and leicester season; obviously enjoyed chelsea winning leagues in between but a bit dud for everyone else. 2013-14 had moyes, little horse of chelsea, gerrard slip, suarez with best ever individual season from a player, the discovery of pulis genius, arse getting pasted at all the big sides, joediego claiming man utd were a good side (a ban worthy offense).
