Spurs wage structure will change half a season into the new stadium opens so the finance team have data on how much extra gross margin that brings in.

I fully suspect us to double a bunch of wages by the end of 2018.

Big issue is Toby. His contract is up in 2019 so can leave on a free in January of next season, and he's an absolutely wonderful player. Sanchez looks good, but he's not Toby. Pay the man.

I don't see us doubling up on wages, but lifting our top earner from whatever it is now (I'm guessing 100-120k pw range) to 150-180k pw seems reasonable. And only a select few players at a select few clubs make more than that. Unfortunately/fortunately Kane is probably one of them. I hope he is cool with being a one club legend, but you gotta put the odds of that at like 1 in 10 or 20, which is better than most cuz his personality probably makes him more likely to do it than most players.

Making it a 10-20% pay bump when a mega-club comes in compared to a 50-100% bump like it is now will definitely help us maintain more of a chance of holding on to people.

Coutinho was ****ing awful today. Not Lovren levels of awful, but he was awful.

I think Spurs can/will pay Kane £300k a week when the time comes.

That is still only £75m over 5 years, which is probably what Gylfi cost Everton.

Rest of the squad will also get paid. Players like Stones, Sterling and Hendo are still only in the £100-150k ballpark, so it's really no biggie to shift Dier, Rose, etc into that bracket. Eriksen, Toby, Dele, Son into the £150-200k bracket. Ez game.

Spurs can do this as we still have a really small squad of senior players, one of the lowest wages/turnover ratios in the PL and our organic growth (i.e. the FFP ceiling) will go through the roof when we move into the new stadium - our turnover could easily rise by £100m.

Finally, we are never going to compete right at the high end of the market for players. So given we will have cash floating around, and Levy has always reinvested in the club, it will almost certainly be spent on wages for the existing squad.

This was the first game for ages that I had no social media influence during or after the game so it's interesting to me that I seem to have shown bias with Pools performance. I was surprised when I saw Pools xG later last night as I felt like it was way more than 0.6. At 2-1 I really fancied us.

With Coutinho, in hindsight he did lose the ball a fair bit in important areas but I'm a sucker for technique and he showed some great touches. I was sitting with Spurs fans and most of them were raving about Coutinho. He was on the ball a lot in the 1st half but his only options were both full backs. Spurs had figured out how to suffocate us.

First time I've watched Kane in the flesh, what a beast.

What really surprised me against Madrid and Liverpool was our willingness to completely change our preferred formation and way of playing. It's the first time Poch has really done this, and it's obviously paid off.

Pool really hammered us at Anfield last February, and we were luck to escape 0-2, but we still had 49% possession while stupidly trying to press high and play out from the back.

We had 34% possession against Madrid, and 36% yesterday - at home. I don't think we have had so little of the ball since I've paid attention to such stats.

It did look likely Liverpool would get back into it for 15 mins or so after they scored, but the other 75 mins it looked like we would score a hatful.

I think everyone fancied Pool between Salah's goal and Spur's 3rd. It was actually a pretty big shame for the neutral because the second half could have been an absolute corker.

Indeed, it isn't feasible to execute this plan as his lads can't see Lovren when they are in a trench on the edge of Manchester United 18 yard box.

I see "the best fans in the world" have been sending Lovren death threats on social media so he's removed Liverpoool from his bio and blocked all comments.

YNWA.

Do we have to do this every time? Idiots sending abuse on Twitter has nothing to do with any football club. There are a lot of disgusting people in the world and they wear all kinds of replica shirts.

Couple this with the curse of sixfour and an away win seems like the best bet since 9/1 on an N'jie brace

1) keep hiring and sacking well groomed foreign blokes until you accidentally stumble on a couple of excellent signings
2) your good players play good. fans decide that the manager's training cone placement methods and press conference mind games are the keys to success
3) some time passes, fans are delighted
4) excellent signings move on to bigger clubs, team isn't that good any more
5) sack the manager, his training cone patterns have become stale and outdated and he is no longer able to get into the head of the opposing manager
6) go to 1)

They should hire Moyes again.

They've lost to Spurs, ManU, Arsenal and Chelsea*. Ok, heavily each time. But who is not going to do that?

*Oh, and Burnley.
