I approve of our latest member. The Utd & plop thing is weird, but I've been watching NFL for maybe 4-5 years now and still haven't picked one team to root for but I still like some more than others and I'm sure some of them are rivals so I can kind of forgive that.

Interesting. I had always assumed that Man City & Man United was the big rivalry & felt kind of bad that I also kind of like City a fair amount. I didn't realize there as a big Liverpool/United thing.

Did some research & according to random surveys that I'm sure carry no statistical significance...

Liverpool fans say their biggest rival is:

Man United 72%
Everton 22%
Chelsea 5%
Arsenal 1%

Manchester United fans say their biggest rival is:

Liverpool 65%
Man City 20%
Arsenal 10%
Leeds United 5%

lol what Liverpool fans think Chelsea are their biggest rivals? Arsenal I can actually understand more given them being the top 2 teams for basically a decade.

Since everything in Brit-land is so compact, geographical rivalries aren't like they are here in the U.S.

If you live in Boston, you hate all New York teams. If you live in L.A., you hate everything Frisco, etc.

Sure you have Spurs-Arse-Chelsea in London, but other than that, not so much.

Look at a map and Southampton and Bournemouth are right next to each other, but I don't believe fans of either team consider the other their rival..

Oh, and one more thing..

Yes, I do hate New York teams. Except the Nets, but only because they were so generous. & I only mildly dislike the Mets, although I should hate them more...

I took up your offer to look at a map. I used to go to Hereford every year because that's where my mom's parents lived. The closest team to there seems to be West Bromwich Albion. I have always been agnostic as to them, but maybe I should move them up slightly. Their name seems silly, though.

Everyone at Southampton would like to express our thanks to Claude for his hard work and commitment this year. The highlight of the season was a memorable day at Wembley in the EFL Cup Final, a day our fans will always treasure.

We wish Claude well for the future.

The search for a new management team is underway. We are confident that we will find the right fit in line with the long term vision of the club.

We're a two-bit club and don't deserve to moan about loyalty when players use us as a stepping stone.

This is literally the opposite of the truth, well done on the impressive levels of wrongness.

Started watching games regularly 2 seasons ago because my baby started waking me up at 5 every morning & there was nothing else to watch. Now I really enjoy it.

I loved the Leicester run, but hard to get too excited about them last year. I like Liverpool & Man UTD, dislike Chelsea & Spurs (rough season for me last year), & have different opinions on all the other teams in the middle in order to ensure I always have something to root for.

My mom is English & lived there until her early 20s & her mom was a Spurs fan & her dad was a Ham fan, so I feel kind of bad about not like the Spurs, but I just can't get into them. I think maybe because they were trying to get in the way of the Leicester thing?

I think I dislike Chelsea because Diego Costa seems like a giant douche, plus their weird-looking goaltender? I had a similar initial distaste for Arsenal because wtf that hat, but I've come around some because I enjoy watching Alexis play. If he goes tho? Meh.

Anyway, enough useless casual fan thoughts. I'll try to not be annoying.

Seriously though, welcome. Hope you stick around. Eltbus has become tolerable in the past year so I guess yanks are welcome.

No geographical rivalries are ****ing huge here and not so much in America. The giants dgaf about the jets yet hate Dallas, which is understandable because Dallas suck donkey balls. In America rivalries are created because of divisions, which obviously is sometimes related to geography, but if teams are geographically close but not in the same division then most of the time teams don't care.

Thanks! I will if I can keep up. I post in NBA & NFL off-season threads regularly, but mostly don't even try during the regular season, so we'll see what happens.

Well aren't you a Soton fan?

Do you consider Bournemouth your big rival?

Distance between Bournemouth and Southampton is 39 kilometers (24 miles).
Driving distance from Bournemouth to Southampton is 53 kilometers (33 miles).
