I'm surprised that Plop let Palace buy Benteke. Prolly has something to do with Klopp liking team players and Benteke really isn't one IMO.

I'm fully expecting a Sullivan and Sturridge photo featuring the cross armed Hammers salute.

I hope he can balance for the photo without his crutches.

Benteke is a typical Bent/Carroll/Defoe type striker. Mid-table at best.

This is my main gripe btw and correct. It's terrible news for gund, unlucky, etc but they also knew his injury history. Regardless it's awfully unfortunate. But it may get them to playing optimally again with these two in the middle. It should in theory but ya he will probably stick yaya in there for some unknown reason.

What a plop way of looking at things. That's like saying "of the 29 games he hasn't started, he's scored 0 goals"

He's got 17 in 50. Twist that stat however you like.

Easy explanation. You can only build up momentum when you are starting games. And momentum leads to goals.

The way it's written sounds like he's scored those goals in the games he started - ie he's never scored after coming off the bench. Is that right?

Nope, he came off the bench to score the "winner" in this match:

Spoiler:

Running neutral would probably be 2nd-4th. Even running hot we wouldn't be above Chelsea unless it was Leicester last season levels.

Sturridge is about a Benteke in value. I remember being laughed at on here for saying that a few years ago when Sturridge was on that beast mode. I think the argument centered around the definition of the word 'decent' in a player context.

Origi is basically nowhere near the talent of Sturridge but he, like Heskey before him, is getting the great managerial benefit of the doubt for passing the 'heart', 'desire', 'run around a lot' eye test. Sturridge fails on these grounds, like Berba or Ozil.

Mostly Sturridge fails the "can walk without limping" eye test, to be fair.

Sturridge hasn't scored in a long time.

Origi has scored 5 times in his last 5 games.

Pretty clear, world class big Dick > limp Dan

Nowhere might be a stretch but talent wise I think it's pretty clear Sturridge > Origi

Problem with Daniel is he found God

Blimey, Marvin Sordell's career hasn't gone so well.
