Idk, I still hate Chester. I can't comment on the signings over 10 years ago too much. I'm looking at this without hindsight and focusing on potential. Chester is never going to be anything. At least some dude told SAF that Bebe was a raw talent that could become great.

The fact Dia played in a game is mind blowing. I mean Utd was still able to onsell Bebe for €3m

Aye, he was a roaring success when Redknapp signed him.

Signed by manager Harry Redknapp[5] on 21 December 2000 for a fee of £1.5 million which, depending on other factors, could have risen to £2.6 million, Camara announced, "I've come to West Ham to play, play, play – and score, score, score. If it was a question of money, I could have stayed at Liverpool and picked it up. I need to play, and if I don't it is totally pointless."[6] Making his West Ham debut on 23 December 2000 in a 2–1 away defeat to Leicester City,[7] Camara went on to play only fourteen games, in all competitions, without scoring at all.

Ebbrell cost us 1.2 million in 97 and we got 45 minutes out of him before he retired

Heh, forgot he played for West Ham as well, think we paid £3m for him back then too!

I just looked at his Wikipedia, he went over three years without scoring at one point. He makes Iain Dowie look prolific in comparison.

in hindsight its torres by a trillion miles imo. unique combination of being ludicrously expensive, completely worthless and completely undroppable.

think mw is gunning more for transfers which were obviously horrific at the time and everyone knew it except the bloke buying him. ill put darren bent for 24m to villa into the mix. everyone pretty much knew he was just a fairly worthless goalhanger iirc

speaking of terrible Chelsea transfers, how about Winston Bogarde?

Quote:
"Why should I throw fifteen million Euro away when it is already mine? At the moment I signed it was in fact my money, my contract." In the end, he only appeared eleven times during his four-year contract, reportedly earning £40,000 a week during this period.

He took Spurs to the bottom of the league, so on that basis, he's ideal. On the minus side, he was the last manager to win them a trophy, I think?

He needs to be there until close of play on the 28th December - this is non-negotiable.

yes he got sacked after 8 games of the 08/09 season with spuds in last place with 2 points. two months later he was manager of real madrid

it will surprise nobody to find out that he has extremely thick & luxurious hair for his age
