The tv rights allow for a set number of games to be broadcast. Each team before March/April get roughly the same number of games - this allows for an equal share of Tv time. Then the title race and relegation games can then be put on. So teams fighting for the title will end up having been on tv more often that not.
Each time slot when the rights are giving out entitles the tv company to x amount of games.
Again, Sky and BT can only show the games they pick. They'll pick plops bigger games to show.
No other game, can be broadcast or played at the same time. Unless they are moved to accommodate the EL - replays etc
The picks for this weekend was:-
Saturday - 12:45 Spurs v Chelsea BT
17:45 Leicester v man Utd - sky sports
Sunday - 2pm whu v wba
4pm Norwich v Arsenal
Saturday 3pm would have been every other game.
Spuds v Chelsea was a bt top pick. So it has to be broadcast/played solely on its own as they paid for it. So it's moved to 12 on a Sunday to avoid any clash with the sky games.
Plop played el so had to be moved as well but couldn't be played.
Sunday's 2pm kick off isn't a premium time slot, no first choice games. They don't broadcast double games. They over lap the 4pm as its more likely to have a first/top pick over a game that isn't a top, 2nd, 3rd,4th or even 5th choice - now know as the 3pm kick off.
Plop and Spurs are likely to over lap a lot on the Sunday 4pm due to that reason. If they're game isn't a top pick.
They over lapped a coupe of weeks back when Arsenal played Spurs and plop played c.p. City v villa was the 2pm game.
