Looks like there's enough action to go around.

Kdawg, I'll take this hundo with MindFckr (his $111 to my $100) and you can take from LFC? Does that work for everyone?

LFC, quote to book, your $111 to my $100, you have Arsenal I have UTD season bet on higher finish in tblitw.
So who's the where the what? I'm fine w it. Booked?

The conversation was about Arsenal's title race for this year, and my comments were regarding that. I assumed it was trivial what I was talking about.

I'm confused as well. If stak is betting with LFC, I'll do the bet with you (my $50 to your $55). If not, then I'll do it with LFC.

I'm just looking for something silly like that truth be told.

My fault gents, I made it more confusing than it had to be. Me and Kdawg want United and MindFckr/LFC want Arsenal, I messed it up trying to prioritise action or whatever.

How about I have $50 on UTD against LFC_USA's $55 on Arsenal. (We both posted first).

Kdawg and MindFckr have the same bet?

If LFC quotes we're booked. No action for me and MindFckr as of now.

Gl all (but mostly kdawg).

15/1. But way too many of the top teams looking far too competitive that i don't see much value there. I can't really see any of the top 4 not making it. Ars, United, City and Chels all have great squads. If anything the gap between that 4 has increased to the rest. With Ars and Utd in particular strengthening a lot more than the others. Pool strengthened too but lolpool.

Yes!

I want Soton outside top 6, and Soton u57.5 points (or whatever the market is, but I think that's what someone posted in the betting thread a while ago). Zero research went into that, just like lol'ing at your Soton hype all season

Ya I agree with this . United still the most likely to slip though but that chance is far far lower than last yr. Pool could still be a wild card, but need someone to go partial Suarez minus the bitey racist stuff to nip top 4. I do like soton to compete with the teams outside top 4 though especially if Rodriguez has a good comeback year.

I think Liverpool has an outside chance to make top 4, but after them there is almost no one even remotely capable.

They'll compete for sure, but i think they will slip up far too much against the smaller teams over the course of the season. I haven't seen any utd preseason, but i like most of the moves they have made this season and expect a big year from Wazzzza.

Pre Season mean actual nothing in football.
It's not like the NBA summer league where players are actually fighting to get picked for the minimum contracts.

If we sell Berahino and buy Ricky Lambert - as has been touted - we could be top of the league.

Plop

Well if you just did a model like:
1st 6 points
2nd 5 points
3rd 4 points
4th 3 points
5-7 2 points
8-17th 1 points
18-20 3 points

I've obviously just pulled those numbers out of the air (and would be open to changing them if people thought they weren't good), but it seems to rewards the positions that people actually care about. It might well be that there are ties like in the scenario you gave, but you can add a top-down system of tiebreakers.

Re: English Football 2015/16

I had a little play around with it, and the best model I could come up with is pretty simplistic (which is a good thing imo):

You get a point for every team you correctly predict will finish above another team.

So if I predict
Chelsea
City
Arse
Utd
Plop

and the league finishes in that order, I'd get 19pts for Chelsea (as they finished above all 19 teams, as predicted by me) and 18 for City (as I correctly predicted they'd finish above every team except Chelsea), then 17 for Arsenal, etc

I tried a few different methods, and tested them against various predictions / results, and the above method seemed best to me. It also has the advantage of being super easy to explain and calculate!

Re: English Football 2015/16

winning the league is basically unimportant - vide the ManU supporters itt recently. the only thing that really matters in any one year is not being relegated (the oil clubs and ManU seem to have indestructible revenues, so it only really matters to Arsenal in any specific year that they make the top 4).
