The players have the option of requesting a transfer/letting their contract expire and going to play in the lower leagues. I still think stuff like this is marginal and if we spent more time generating better players during their embryonic years we'd be better off.

Totally agree on that

I think the creation of B teams is (a) only likely to result in a very marginal benefit in terms of increasing the number of English players in the top flight and (b) at a guess, clubs in the lower leagues don't want a bunch of B sides getting shat into their league - unless those B sides fancy working their way up from the bottom of the pyramid.
Agree that if it was to ever happen (and it probably won't) they would start at the absolute bottom and work their way up and the highest level they could play would be the championship. That would be the only fair way to do it.

Consistency in training is extremely important. Continually chopping and changing training methods each year is not great for developing players. See the number of highly rated Chelsea youth players that have been farmed out for years.

This is part of it. There still needs to be something to fill the gap from between youth team player to first team player.

I agree. I posted that because a couple of years ago I talked to a guy who did what hoopie suggested and turned down an extension+loan from Werder Bremen and signed a longer deal with a second division club after talking to other guys who had negative experiences with loans. Before that I had never given it much thought, but it makes total sense.

Def won't escrow to me then? I'm holding 20k+ for the 3rd year running for 2p2 fpl so don't really see what there is to worry about. I've also paid out more than €10k in last man standings. I'm sure Kingweed and lost ostrich would vouch for me.

pretty sure the takeaway is to get your kid playing as much as possible in games where the emphasis is on skill and interplay (i.e., small pitches or futsal) from age 4 onwards

maybe malnourish him a little before a course of growth hormone treatment during his teenage year so he doesnt have an athletic advantage initially so that his skills is forced to develop but might be too risky since you do want him playing at a highish level and training with the best kids. might just have to pray that he binks freakish ninja 50% more ball touches per second skillz ala ronaldinho and messi

from what ive read about cr7, also consider abandoning him so that his only recourse to self-validation is getting many scorepoints and the praise of his agent and entourage and the fear of dying alone is allayed by the reflection of your oiled abs performing many many sit-ups.

Also have a surrogate parent with the best possible genes (pretty sure cr7 did this as no one knows who his sons mom is). Am extremely sad that there's no chance it was Megan rapinoe.

if i have to escrow i see no benefit at all in escrowing with the opposition party than an independent 3rd party.

also you holding already large sums is not a plus in theory. quite the opposite actually. have no idea why you would think i would agree since this is our first interaction that i can remember.

more than happy to vouch for mic_check, he's held thousands of dollars for comps I've run over the years with zero problems, but that said it's clear that you two guys ought to just escrow with a trusted third party since you don't know each other.

No probs, just demonstrating my trustworthiness. Can you think of someone we both know? Would you do it LO? Or someone super reliable that I can just go and read their posts and see they escrowed 10s of thousands before? (That works for me as a reliability indicator)

I'm not prepared to do it, sorry. There must be dozens of decent options somewhere in SE, but I don't have any specific suggestions as you're the only guy around here who's ever held a significant amount of my money!
11-10-2015 , 02:50 PM
I'm sure chris escrowed $20k+ years ago.

Agree with what LO has said regarding mic. He also runs LMS which has pools >€1k

11-10-2015 , 03:05 PM

This much hassle for a simple 1k bet when you have 8 million posts between you?

Edit: Also, I have no idea if GodlikeRoy is willing to escrow, but if he is, he's always been reliable and straightforward in my dealings with him.

TP, the funny part was that I cheered really hard when Gomes had his howler over the weekend because I bet a decent chunk on Leicester. The sentence just really threw me off but I will admit to not remembering who plays in net for Bournemouth now without looking it up.

That makes no difference what so ever. Escrowing takes all the hassle out of the bet.
