The players have the option of requesting a transfer/letting their contract expire and going to play in the lower leagues. I still think stuff like this is marginal and if we spent more time generating better players during their embryonic years we'd be better off.

Agree that if it was to ever happen (and it probably won't) they would start at the absolute bottom and work their way up and the highest level they could play would be the championship. That would be the only fair way to do it.

Consistency in training is extremely important. Continually chopping and changing training methods each year is not great for developing players. See the number of highly rated Chelsea youth players that have been farmed out for years.

I posted that because a couple of years ago I talked to a guy who did what hoopie suggested and turned down an extension+loan from Werder Bremen and signed a longer deal with a second division club after talking to other guys who had negative experiences with loans. pretty sure the takeaway is to get your kid playing as much as possible in games where the emphasis is on skill and interplay (i.e., small pitches or futsal) from age 4 onwards

from what ive read about cr7, also consider abandoning him so that his only recourse to self-validation is getting many scorepoints and the praise of his agent and entourage and the fear of dying alone is allayed by the reflection of your oiled abs performing many many sit-ups.

TP, the funny part was that I cheered really hard when Gomes had his howler over the weekend because I bet a decent chunk on Leicester. The sentence just really threw me off but I will admit to not remembering who plays in net for Bournemouth now without looking it up.
