Hoopie to confirm but I think if we lose a bunch of games 5-3 but sprinkle in some occasional huge upsets like beating Man City & Arsenal this year, score a bunch of boss goals and don't get relegated the tickets will sell themselves.
God forbid people go to a football match and have a good time watching the product on display. No sir, much rather have baseball hat bunkering 2 lines of 5 in front of our own goal for 90 minutes to get a heroic draw. **** that ****.
Firstly, he should shut his whore mouth, obviously.
He will argue that he did his job with us. Got promoted, kept us up, had us in the mix for a good league finish and then the board didn't back him in January in his final season. He made some baffling decisions and some bad signings but history will view his reign favourably.
He is right - I think we will struggle to fill it. A lot depends on (a) ticket price (b) the quality of football on offer and (c) the stadium. We are planning on basically giving the **** tickets away under the guise of some community participation, so expect schoolboy international atmospheres at some games. Bigger sides will have their support move outside the away section, which will lead to trouble. On quality of football, at some point we will be ****. At that point, attendances will dip, because our core fan base is not big enough for that stadium. As for the stadium itself, I will be kind and say the jury is out.
If we turn up and play like the 1970 Brazil side (in before HH tells me that the current Gillingham team are better) for five years, we might pack it out every week. Since we probably won't, after an initial period of interest in the stadium, unless we are good, there will be empty seats.
Your ground's too big for you...
