English Football 2015-16 - Leicester City won the league English Football 2015-16 - Leicester City won the league

I see what you did there

This isn't baseball. There's plenty of clubs over and underachieving their size in the league at the moment - Swansea and Southampton v sunderland and Newcastle - there's sensible ways to spend money. United have a huge wage bill - £250k a week goes on Rooney. Do they get value from that? No.

First step is breaking back into the champions league. We can also increase revenue by growing the stadium (tick) and getting better at commercial deals (also a tick). The one thing Liverpool have which Chelsea and City and Arsenal are behind on is the global fanbase.

I just think it's funny that after years of ups and downs in football, suddenly people think everyone's expected position is set in stone.

you know the sort of 6 month run that routinely leads to poolfan/spudsfan = gibbering mess
All it needs is mediocrity for long enough for Roman to get bored...

I made a similar point to my red **** supporting mates the other night, basically Liverpool are misguided if they expect to make top 4 as there are four bigger clubs than them in the league right now. I wish I'd been witty enough to add that any manager capable of getting them into the top 3 would be a guy they'd want to hang on to!

Ha wp baids.

---

AVB type season is where it's at for meltdowns, although team somehow binked CL. Chelsea so bad now impossible to be mad.

---

Jcross, my impression is City/Chelsea pretty well supported globally, no? And if behind pool, eventually success will surpass them. Like United 90s ------> Helps when you win blitw

I wouldn't say there are four bigger clubs than Liverpool in the league. Instead I would say that there are four richer clubs with stronger squads.

Soon to be five.

trouble is they can easily chuck 250k/week at the fat useless arsehole while still having more than enough remaining to chuck another 250k/wk at another fat useless arsehole, and another, and another, and evertually one of the fat useless arseholes is going to come good.

gap between swanz/soton and the lol north east is actually pretty small in terms of revenue which means that north east does not have a lot of room for failure, its not like toon and s'land can just keep throwing **** at the wall until some of it sticks.

in contrast the mancs & bus wankers have a sewage hose working at 110% capacity around the clock. it has no off switch.

well yeah, but I'm not going to admit that when the purpose of my little speech was to annoy my friends and make them feel bad about their team's long term prospects.

Have you got a list of the global fanbases of the three clubs being described here? Obviously what constitutes a "fan" in this sense and whether the measurement used is appropriate will be debated, I'd like to know where you get your numbers from.

Think sirgaribadi would sort by facebook likes and twitter. Pool are 4th on twitter follows - city 5th. Arsenal 1st.

While I don't want to completely discredit this obviously accurate measure, there is a fair age difference between the groups. Liverpool's global fan base is likely to be older and therefore on facebook less, probably more convertible into actual income and less fickle.
10-09-2015 , 08:26 AM
did you just describe Liverpool's global fanbase as "less fickle" or am I hallucinating
10-09-2015 , 08:27 AM
Liverpool only have an advantage in hard core fans which means we sell more scarfs or ties ( I have both ). But we definetly have less fans that watch the games in the telly. In Chile ESPN has the right to two games a week and they havent shown a single Liverpool game yet. I expect that to change with Klopp but still.
10-09-2015 , 08:28 AM
I love loling at plop as much as the next guy but frankly i've found myself particularly indifferent to the signing of klopp. not even a tactical genius like fan could make anything decent happen for plop

Well yeah. If you're still a fan now, you've put up with some dross for a while and still not given up.
10-09-2015 , 08:30 AM
Age and financial status has approximately 0% relevance to fickleness.
10-09-2015 , 08:31 AM
a pity there are no loo roll holder stats for norway, i expect pool are dominant there

fair point, but one of my favourite sights in football is the fortnightly booing off of the Liverpool team by the loyal kopites when they're 0-0 at half time
10-09-2015 , 08:32 AM
Val, you wear this to work/school/at home?
