Well, Carlo is a better manager so we don't want them to get him. I'd rather he went to plop than City or Chelsea.

I'd much rather he said nope and they got some donk like Grant, AvB, SherGOAT in AINEC

Pool just don't have a squad good enough to not be much more than mediocre this year. I thoroughly believe Klopp could spend £300 million much, much better than Rodgers did but how much more can they drop on that squad in the near future?

A lot iyam

TV deal. They're going to enter boom phase. New stand so they'll want to sell ticket and sell out these new expensive Corp tickets.

Plus I can't imagine klopp agreeing if he can make a few changes to the squad.

nothing more intimidating in the world of football than klopp's plop attacking the kop end, though they may rename it the klopp end pretty quickly.

Transfer committee tho.

Gegenpressing will be undone by the likes of Pulis and Van Gaal launching torpedoes from the GK direct to Fellaini/Rondon etc. while scrapping for second balls. Part of Rodgers undoing was never playing a high enough line to prevent that penalty box pressure. Hopefully Kloppo picks up on it and saves the sophisticated tactics against the top 8.

£300m = £100m net spend over four seasons - four summer Windows and three winter.

Lol Brits eh.

You do realise that Eric Dier was raised in Portugal and he was coached at Sporting Lisbon's famous academy from the age of 10.

Must be genetic.

Anybody else find fanerio's combination of showing off his tactical knowledge by dropping trendy terms such as 'positional resets' and childish usage of 'lol this lol that' extremely annoying?

Yeah prob something about the english that glories in stubborn stupidity, that believes in lolpassion instead technical mastery and all of you other than BAIDS are basically all crotchety math-deriding feel players

The "lol this and lol that" is the shaping of language by a skilled practitioner, fanny said so himself. His posts are often insightful, unfortunately a skilled language practitioner would be skilled enough not to come across as such a massive, massive **** at every opportunity.

Also I suppose Klopp will want a new goalkeeper in the next summer.
I actually think Allen, Lallana, and Ings will do well under Klopp. Assuming they can figure out the tactics. They definitely have the work rate required for the pressing.

Sturridge will be interesting because he's so good but he doesn't really work that hard off the ball and is brittle so will no doubt break down after 2 weeks of hard work.

Liverpool's decision to sack Brendan Rodgers just eight games into the new Premier League season could cost the club more than £10million.

Rodgers was dismissed on Sunday with almost three years remaining on a contract worth, including bonuses, around £5million a year.

Telegraph Sport understands that Liverpool owner, Fenway Sports Group, did not make any provision for the early termination of Rodgers’ contract when he was handed a new deal in May 2014 after narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League title.

Like his players, Rodgers had performance related clauses in his contract, but sacking him now means Liverpool cannot penalise him for failing to secure a top-four finish or not winning a trophy.

That means the Northern Irishman is free to try to claim the full value of the remainder of his contract.
lmao

top 4 odds havent really budged.

pool's o/u is now 62, iirc it was 62 before the everton game and should've dipped a tiny bit on that result all else equal.

for reference, late july o/u was 64.5.

markt's response is basically

lolbrit footballers and lolbrit posters

to go more in depth,

klopp obv needs a high line to implement a press and a DM that understands whats going on around him and conforms his positioning in relation to the defensive shape the team is in if the ball is lost which will happen a lot instead of random running around. a couple of players being lazy (rooney/depay) or the DM 5 metres off the correct position means everything since you break an effective press and immediately expose like half the pitch for the opposition to attack into and you get embarrassed by arsenal 3-0

like milner and henderson are both fine at running around doing random attacking and defending things, but like yaya they have never really been taught or cared about defensive shape and stuff like that as per proper midfielders. maybe lucas can finally show that he's not some useless plonker with a higher line and he doesn't have to defending about 40m x 50m and his patrol area is reduced to the european "normal" of 15m x 30m

lovren might be a winner since he is supposed the "ball playing defender" that can step into midfield ala pique except he's not much of a ball player or a defender unless the system can simplify his decision-making and he can fight his own lagtard tendencies to dive in at every opportunity. Benteke can be a decent knock-off Lewandoski and they have plenty of attackers with varying degrees of skill/work rate/tactical intelligence to choose from, questions are how he's going to implement a high line that can also play the ball and if he can play both benteke and sturridge. but like if the answer is lovren you should prob change the question.
