English Football 2015-16 - Leicester City won the league English Football 2015-16 - Leicester City won the league

Kuszczak is a failure because he was bought to be a back up keeper and was crap whenever he had to be a back up keeper. Same reason Ricardo and Van Der Gouw are also fails. Lindegaard is slightly different because we were buying the first choice Danish keeper and he has failed to put any real pressure on DDG even though Fergie gave him a ton of opportunities in 12/13.

I was not saying that Fortune was a better footballer, just that if Valencia was a success at ManU, then so was Fortune.
06-19-2015 , 03:48 AM
That's completely wrong though...Valencia has proven extremely versatile and at his peak was a very good winger. Unlike Nani he was extremely disciplined positionally which is why he was Fergie's favourite. Yes, at times it looked as if he could kick on and be a star but there's absolutely no argument that over 7 years he's been a really good player to have in the squad and CONTINUES to be a useful option. He has played DOUBLE the amount of games Fortune did, and Fortune was NEVER considered a first team player. My best memory of Fortune is Fergie bringing him on in injury time when we were 4-3 up on the night but 6-5 down on agg vs Madrid and he just started kicking the sh*t out of everyone. He was basically Phil Neville's centre midfield back-up option.

It's laughable you're making this comparison, and I do wish that despite my reputation some United posters would occasionally point out that things like comparing Fortune to Valencia is a joke, but no, they can't be uncool enough to agree wth the crazy man.
06-19-2015 , 04:09 AM
He's not comparing them though. He's saying if 17m Valencia meets your criteria for success then 1.5m Fortune probably should too. Fortune was a limited footballer (as is Valencia btw) but we took a punt on him for peanuts and he turned out to be a useful backup for 3-4 seasons. What more do you want from a 1.5m punt?

If you think he's comparing the two by claiming both should be classed as a success, then by that same logic you're comparing Valencia and Ronaldo btw.

But I've had somebody make an argument for Quinton Fortune being on a par with Antonio Valencia, a knowledgeable poster had a nightmare and compared David May to the great Ronny Johnsen, and someone else tried to argue that £30m Berbatov was a success.

That's what I'm dealing with.

Is anybody actually arguing with the premise that buying from outside the Prem is a coin flip?
It proves nothing, other than that over a non-huge sample a specific manager and his scouting department did better buying domestically. Your list is also quite biased in favour of the point you're trying to make. Excluding lower league punts like Greening, Zaha and Powell while including Obertan, Bebe, Diouf and Miller which are basically the buying foreign equivalent and not accounting for price and expectation (like in your Fortune vs Valencia example) heavily skews the "results".

yeah re the foreign united signings loads were brought for peanuts, theyre not going to be as succesful as expensive premier league signings are they?

Adebayor: 'Feeling really fresh after my goal. Can't wait to come back to Tottenham and show everyone the passion I have for the club. Looking forward to pre-season!'

Is it contract expiry time again?

A football agent posted a video message stating that Adebayor and Soldado have been told that they are free to leave.

I can only assume he is going to lay a steamy clod on Daniel Levy's desk and then wipe his arse with the club's shirt.

Final conversion cost of Olympic Stadium rises to £272m, £118m more than original budget. Total cost of stadium £701m. #WHUFC pay £15m

That's corrupt, I'm all on board for WHU relegation next season and seeing them open the Olympic Stadium vs Rotherham in 16/17.

Get rid of Big Sam at your peril.

I don't think it is corrupt, it was just idiocy from Jowell, Coe, Livingston et al. They built the thing.

they really couldn't have got west ham to pay more than 15 million

Quinton barely played for United iirc. A few sub appearances here or there and starts when the result wasn't important. It seems he played a bit more between 2003 and 2005 but those were pretty dry spells relative to United success over the years.

If they could have got West Ham to pay more but didn't, who is at fault? West Ham, or those on the other side of the negotiations?

The stadium was built with no capacity to be a football stadium after the Olympics. After the games had finished, there was a tender process. Two bids were submitted, both from football clubs. So that was a bad read from someone who decided on the design.

Our bid was chosen. There was a judicial review, and our bid was still the one that was selected. I don't think there are any allegations of wrongdoing, just a stadium built by clowns with no idea what to do with it afterwards.

Anyone wanna bet on ManU finishing above Arsenal and I take Arsenal finishing above ManU? And I'm giving 7:6 odds. So like I bet 70 and the opponent bets 60.

Stars transfer at the end of the season without escrow. Opponent must be at least somewhat reliable.

Currency preference:

1. dollars
2. euros
3. pounds

But I'll accept pounds too. Could possibly bet 52,5£:45£ in that case.

Also I'm open for higher bets than like 70, but opponent must be really reliable in that case, like an English football thread reg.

WHERE ARE ALL THOSE ****ING FLIES COMING FROM WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE ALL CLOSED?
kill em all and 10 mins later suddenly 20 new ones spawned out of nowhere, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE
06-19-2015 , 10:58 AM
They mate, reproduce, repeat really really quickly. And so hard to kill. By the time you've killed one, 100 more are born.

Cashy, if it's fruit flies all over your place, I bought a vinegar mixture off of amazon that worked wonders last summer. It basically took almost all of them out in 5 days

Kerry Dixon has turned into Les Dennis. And been jailed.

I don't know, but I've been told
Frankie's boots are made of gold
I don't know, but it's been said
Kerry's boots are made of lead

This probably explains why McAvennie was so much better.

Lol

I listen to McAvennie now and again on the radio, absolute crackpot.

He must have some amazing stories. He's yet another ex-West Ham player that pops up to talk about us when he has a book to sell, which is irritating, but he was one of my favourite ever Hammers.

Classic McAvennie:

Quote:
Depute-fiscal Bernard Ablett said the pair were detained at the airport after arriving on a domestic flight from Stanstead. A drugs surveillance unit received a tip-off that they were in possession of the cocaine and arrested them. A search revealed a white paper fold in the pocket of McAvennie's jeans. Analysis showed the packet held 0.381 grammes of cocaine. He told the officers: "It's just a wee bit of Charlie.''
