Re: English Football 2015-16

yeah after the mid-week European action i'm kind of expecting (and of course hoping) for a world-restoring 2-0/3-1 type win now. Mourinho's team selection should be pretty interesting though. i assume it'll be about last stand time for Ivanovic & Terry, given that they were rested during the week.

and ironically Arsenal's typical possession style of attack plays into Chelsea's hands somewhat, as they're better at defending that than the quick and direct counters that other teams have had success with this season, exposing their lack of pace. better to drive past the bus than through it.

Quote:
Costa
Hazard - Fabregas - Oscar
Matic - Ramires
Dave - Terry - Zouma/Cahill - Ivanovic
Begovic

?

Cahill & Zouma both started on Wednesday, who gets the call tomorrow?

oh yeah, and Agent Peter Czech to replicate his performance against West Ham ldo.

Re: English Football 2015-16

Lol at suggesting Chelsea does anything but bus park vs top 4 opponents typically. As stated above this benefits them when arse have tried to play possession tactics. I don't think they will try to do that this game and take the approach they did vs city on the road last year and will fair similarly well.

So, will players be "traded" similar to how they are in the US?

Probably but also depends on the system we play. If we play 3 at the back he probably won't play but if we play 4 at the back then I expect him to play at LB even though that would be an awful decision from Rodgers.

no idea, only change i can predict with any certainty is that money would be even more of an advantage than it already is.

also i v much doubt it'd happen. and i base that on absolutely nothing.

seems like the standard lawyer thing of asking for ridiculous terms in the hope of securing something less ridiculous as part of a settlement agreement.

That FIFPro thing will take at least 5-7 years before it would even stand a chance of becoming reality.

Based on recent events I think Walcott will start against Chelsea, but I think nanana is better suited for that game...

Picking Walcott would be strange as you can't use his pace to run in behind a bus that's parked on the goal line.

Strong counterargument. A gif of a goal with ten Chelsea players nowhere near the halfway line.

On the bright side Chelsea have to win. Arsenal will be happy with a draw here so mourinhaids bus will will need to shift out of park for once in a game vs wenger. I would expect arsenal to sit deep and soak pressure and play Walcott up top. Not sure who will play on the right wing but my guess would be Ramsey. Though wenger could opt for more pace with ox. Ox as a sub probably is better to counter attack vs tired legs with Ramsey starting to offer more stability.

Would also expect wenger to play Gabriel and kosc to allow them to compact the field and press more effectively when they do have sustained periods of possession.
so you expect wenger to play the exact same team as he has done for the past few games? thanks for the awesome insight ducksauce

No problem. I also predict the team that scores the most goals will win. In the off chance that neither scores more goals then the other I think it will end up being a tie .

True, but I think recency bias and/or recent form will be a decider, hope I'm wrong

Chelsea are 2.2 to win at home last I checked
Think this game last year they were like 1.6

We'll get chances, just depend how our finishing is.

Re: English Football 2015-16

Ducksauce's analysis is fair imo. Simply put, Chelsea cannot afford to drop points here and their recent defensive record is beyond terrible, so their overall gameplan simply has to differ from previous seasons where they had the confidence / arrogance to be able to sit back and allow top tier opponents to come at them. This will surely lead to a more open game, in which it's not unreasonable to suggest Arsenal might be more favoured than in other recent encounters.
