And in all of those leagues it's inconceivable for a 20 year old to force a move to another team which was my original point

That NBA number is about to rise significantly too. I'm actually surprised the margin isn't greater tbh

free movement of labour tho. Don't think restricted free agency is in any way possible here, or even desirable.

The clubs are already maximising revenues by extracting every ounce of value they can from the fans. The only question is who ends up with it.

Dont let the owners of capital turn workers against each other.

Re: English Football 2015/16

any have a guess at what the revenue/salary split is in the BPL and various other Euro football leagues?

the NA leagues are all about 50/50, which is why the NBAers are making so much these days

its been between 60-70% over the last 10 years, will dip quite a bit when the btvditw hits but i expect it to creep up again

btw its probably not too bad playing basketball in bumble****ville when you're getting paid the same base salary as the similarly talented bloke in new york. this obv doesnt happen in football.

Did it already here https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...&postcount=930

The percentage might by higher in some other leagues where everyone is broke all the time and owners are a little less profit-minded, but otoh there'll be less oil-$$$ elsewhere too.

The average salary in the IPL is really £2.5m/year?

yeah - that seems a little odd, but I suppose there are plenty of guys who are 9-12 on their squads who are making league minimum. not sure if that really compensates for those on the max, but w/e.

the ipl salaries seem crazy high given that there must be many guys filling the bench

AFAIK the mid level exception is the league avg salary, and this years MLE is ~$5.5m. BAIDS with the rare misstep.

you can have only 15 players on your roster and the cap is 69M this year.

So average salary of 4.6M.

But then often teams end up having the rights of more than 15 players that they're keeping for their upside but aren't good enough to play in the 15men roster. Those people are usually really cheap like <1M year

Re: English Football 2015/16

ok - well you link to an article in the grauniad, but I really just don't believe that IPL players are averaging £2.5m/year. Maybe if you multiplied their contracts for the 6 week long league by 52/6 ???

no - ok - I'm looking at articles on the web that the salary cap for IPL teams in 2013 & 2014 was about $12.5m - so I think that guardian article is way off for the IPL at least [edit] if that had been a true salary

ok - so that's basically not a useful figure because the players sure as hell can't make those numbers the remaining 46 weeks
