Re: English Football 2015-16

He was talking about Shaw's 100k p/w wages, not the transfer fee tbf, although Stones would surely get a similar package being a 40m player and all.

Quite importantly as well, when he said that it looked like FFP might actually be a thing, which it certainly does not now.

ffp is a thing, blitw clubs just have loads more revenue than they did a couple years ago. and it cost them no pence to generate. both of these things are most favourable when it comes to ffp calculations

but surely City aren't turning over enough to warrant the amount of money they're spending on transfers/wages, and aren't getting much in the way of punishment, which sort of ruins the whole thing for the clubs who are trying to stay within the law.

City's owners can just charge themselves a little more for the sponsorship rights if they need to show more income

Re: English Football 2015-16

city are top 5 itw in revenue

the teams around them (and city themselves) seem to spend 50m or so every year on avg without getting chucked out of europe while increasing their wage bills

chuck in 50m/year from btvditw fairy

bobs your uncle. 100m/year xfer budget here we come

they've also got owners who will chuck in the maximum allowed every year (you can lose 10m euros/year if your owners cover it) which helps a bit

At some point the current oil price level gotta hit the owner and make him 2nd guess the decision on splurging on some random.

Re: English Football 2015-16

im no expert on this but low oil prices arent necessarily terrible for the sheiks because it heavily disincentivises investment in oil infrastructure around the world. the big international oil companies like bp and shell are cancelling investment projects left right & centre, which gives the sheiks greater control long term.

this is why opec keeps refusing to cut production despite slumping prices. if oil prices spike then a niagra of US and russian capital flows into oil productive capacity

if we're talking about oil prices now then I shudder to think what this forthcoming international break will look like

Re: English Football 2015-16

Baids, I sorta agree, but it could also be a 10>9 vs 3>1 situation, 'relative gap towards companies w higher production cost is bigger, but absolute $ revenue is lower'. Who knows when the demand picks up. Hopefully Musk wins and it never happens

Sorry, was thinking about dropping fat Wayne from my team, but after that performance in EUROPE, I'm having 2nd thoughts (true story). What's your take?

Utd's schedule was very easy compared to others'. But Aguero will prob get his spot though. Perhaps Giroud, Kane or Costa/Pedro, but need to look at schedules.
