I have some fond memories from my younger days of sleeping with girls who worked at the local BT call centre, so my experiences with their CS have been mostly positive.

Why didn't you just leave it running if it was coming out of the same account?

Like BAIDS said a while back, what will the media companies do when we have 4K free streams for all sports that are untraceable and the ISP can't shut down?

Seems that BT are over valuing their hand, but I'm not paid by them to analyse the future of the media markts.

I thought the point that he was trying to make was regarding the conversion rate of penalties being approximately 80%?

Aren't BT now charging a tenner a month for their sports package?

Re: English Football 2015-16

seems like a classic arms race/bubble/other term

I'm baffled why subscriptions are still steadily rising with t'internet but they are, and both companies are confident it's going to stay that way.

The average punter seems to genuinely resent how much footballers are paid, and then promptly forks out increasing amounts each year to watch them. Mindblowing.

Yeah it's going to be really weird in a few years when there is no Sky Sports.

I just hope BT introduce a 24 hour sports news channel.

English Football 2015-16

Well, if BT and Sky are doing the broadband as the isp seems to me they'd be able to throttle the internet:cut it off during 12.45, 5:30 on the Saturday and put it down to rid high levels of bandwidth getting used all over the country?

Illegal as but still possible to do and make it seem legit

Should have in retrospect but the other person on the bill asked me to change all the bills to my name so I did it as a favour more or less. I thought if I ever moved I'd just stay with BT so wasn't too worried at the time.

Kingweed,

Just don't have all your eggs in one basket or at the least sign the shortest possible contracts available. 5G is 5-10 years away; Samsung claim to have already invented 5G.

Talks of the whole planet being wifi free via space...

Yah I agree, BT have the biggest market share of land line users in the UK (lol landlines). Most people still pay nearly 20 a month for line rental to BT that they never use only because it comes as a package.

BT have the highest market share of broadband too.

After selling O2 for 20bn they're currently finalising a deal to buy EE - the biggest mobile network in the UK.

Hardly putting all their eggs in one basket.

Sky was purely TV now they have went into the TV and phone market. No eggs in 1 basket for them although TV is still a major core of their business it at least shows they're trying to increase their reach.

Richard Branson sold VM to some yank company as he probably knew it was doom as they'll simply not be able to compete as they can't have the customer base to buy sports rights as they use cable.

Telefonica (O2) tried to get the TV rights but where simply blown out of the water and pulled out, then announced they where selling UK based operations to three holding company.

The way I see it (and I'm not a market expert or anything) is that we are going to get an extremely competitive market where you get bundles for everything, phone, mobile, broadband, mobile broadband and TV and eventually the buck will burst and the smaller guys or the guys who did put all their eggs in one basket will be closed or forced to merge with other companies and we're going to be left with 2 main company's offering all those services.

+1. Their product, support and general approach to customer service was terrible. At least Sky seem to give a **** if I threaten to leave.

If we are all going to stream this **** for free, will that end TBLITW because of an end to the associated TV deal, as nobody is paying any money for it?

Anyone else going to bet on tonights game, maybe also on bet365 using the free in-play? Was thinking about going with goal/goal or Pool to get more bookings pre game and something crazy in game. Any ideas?

Re: English Football 2015-16

Here in NZ the only legit way to get premier league football is through a streaming service. Costs $200 for the season (split with the old man), most games watchable for the whole week in HD, all games available for at least 24 hours. Can get a bit dicey on quality live at times, but overall a fairly decent service. The only pay TV provider here was outbid by this service, but one game per game week is free to air on terrestrial TV as part of the deal.

You may well end up with BT trying to push into electricity and gas as well. They've got a big pension scheme to pay for so they need every penny they can get.

You get competition in many parts of the market but the way football matches is fundamentally uncompetitive IMO.
