I suggest the loser uses transfer wise to go bank to bank and don't give PayPal the free money. Sort it out in May anyway. Booked

fwiw I laid both chelsea and city @ 1.03 for top 4 preseason, feels good to be able to cash out chelsea right now for a profit

Oh Ya apparently I'm ahead of Marty in ikts. Lolzz marttttyyyyy.

At this point I assume it obvious to everyone that Jose took Terry off at half time because it was imperative we lost heavily to City to goad the higher ups into urgent transfer mode.

Hence it was totally accurate when Jose called it a fake result.

Took a risk taking Terry off then.

Graeme Souness actually went with this in his post match analysis.

Assumed this was an Onion headline. Amazingly, it isn't.

FM hate is overblown, it's just another opinion, this time expressed by numbers instead of adjectives. I don't care wether I get to hear the evidence-less opinion of an FM "scout" or by some pundit. In fact, I bet the former watch way more football than the latter.
08-19-2015 , 07:30 PM
Yeah, people mocking it seems ridiculous. You wouldnt mock a professional scout offering his opinion, guess what, SI spend millions to develop these ratings and probably consult tens of professionals when making them

Its just another analytics model and if it wasnt used in a video game, people would be drooling all over it
08-19-2015 , 07:49 PM
I mean, they probably overrate some players on purpose- I read a bunch of years ago that some german bloke doing scouting for FM or a similar game said he wasn't very impressed by Freddie Edu, but overrated him bc that's who the american slappies search for first.

That's a miniscule share of the player population though.
08-19-2015 , 08:05 PM
True, but I'd guess its still more accurate than random scouts/experts with their biases (both intentional and unintentional)

Pretty sure Everton and big Davey Moyes actually signed a deal with football manager (whoever makes their games) so Moyesy could sift through and find himself some gems.

Yeah, remember reading about that, they bought access to their database some years ago. The original makers of the game are Everton fans, no idea if they're still involved with it though.

They have been doing this all summer, every time there is a new transfer rumour they invite an ex pro into the studio and discuss the rumoured players statistics compared with another player who plays in the same position.

Chelsea draw a game after playing a half down a men and lose to City away and now they are not going to finish top 4?

lol

It was an expert bet. Lay them both, then cashout with whoever loses the game.

who can forget the likes of Freddy Adu and Tonton Zolo Moukoko

I think it's a pretty cool starting point - and if the analyst wants to disagree with an attribute rating, too high/low, and can justify it - even better.

any chance with Pedro the Bus Parker will allow Hazard to play some minutes in the middle?

He was devastating in Ligue 1 there but seems to be permanently out wide in the 4231

Don't think Lenny has any resources to speak off so pretty hard to judge him fairly. What I will say is signing the likes of Heskey and Gudjohnsen doesn't look great for his ability to spot a player and it is isn't only a lack of resources that made him look in their direction. He always wanted to sign some older types (42 yr old David James and I'm sure Heskey was on his list while still with us) when he was with us, got Juninho and Lundberg way too late to be of any use.

Not too sure how much input he was allowed on transfers at Celtic, don't think he was making the final decisions tbh.

Hardly surprising seeing as I'm not privy to any special models/xG charts/PDO rundowns and the fact I've been useless (So has Hoopie) at IDKTS forever.
