On day Spurs bid for Berahino I have to admit I got fee wrong on what they paid for Soldado. Was told it was £13m plus £13m in add-ons 1/2

Now established for sure that fee was £20m. Still not £26m but more than I thought. Spurs will get £10m back from Villarreal inc add-ins 2/2

So to put it into context we lost less on Soldado than Utd lost on Berbatov; Arsenal lost on Arshavin; Plop on Carroll; Chelsea on Torres, City lost on Dzeko/Ade/Robinho/Santa Cruz/etc; Soton/Osvaldo.....

Berbatov is a weird inclusion on that list. I know he was a bit of a flop all told considering what we paid, but he played for us for 4 years, helped us to two titles and was top scorer once before we sold him off at age 31. Why not include RvP too then?

Anyway, I just posted that because you've quoted that 13m figure a few times.

Berba was good for us and his hatrick vs plop was worth the fee alone, not to mention being a good player in a few title winning teams.

Arshavin was instrumental in getting us to the cl the season we bought him.

Dzeko scored some pretty big goals in both City's title wins as well.

Some guy poasts "isn't it refreshing to see an unchanged lineup"

My thought is "all well and good until we're knackered and then lose at the weekend"

Two off injured already

Also huge lol at whoever thought that having Plymouth v Carlisle midweek was a good idea

I'll be rooting for Sheffield's joke club to get into the playoffs again. The more confidence built up amongst their fans - ideally with long stints in the automatic places - the better.

Even though last season was funny as always, there were elements missing that you usually get from a Sheffield United season. Although "scored 6 goals over 2 legs and still went out" is an amusing narrative, I thought it lacked because there was never a belief that they'd pull it off. Swindon levelling to 5-5 from 2-5 would have been better obviously. Traditional is best though IMO for Sheffield United seasons. Losing on pens in the play off finals will be funny every time - no need to tinker with a formula that works.

plymouth is on the south coast and carlisle is basically scotland, so its an impossible trip for away fans that need to be at work the next morning
