So he is actually arguing for the increase in the number of days in a week from 7 to 8?

Re: English Football 2015/16
How do we think Stoke set up when all available?
Something like?
-----------Diouf------------
Afellay-----Bojan-----Shaqiri
Maybe Arnautovic starting. Looks pretty damn handy to me.

disagree, he was so poor as a striker.
Balotelli, Lambert or Borini and Sterling wide would have been way better.

Isn't van Ginkel more of a CAM than CM? Can't imagine a MvG/Adam CM would be all that effective. Seems weird saying it but Stoke really need a couple of DM's.

MvG/Adam CM was the setup they played Sunday.
To no effect really.

Re: English Football 2015/16
I think they started with Adam played behind Diouf on Sunday with Whelan and Van Ginkel as the deeper midfield 2.

It seems lightweight for me. Maybe I just can't get my head around Stoke lining up that way and any Stoke lineup without a minimum of 9 brutes just seems off.
Maybe Bojan, Diouf, Shaqiri in a 4-3-3?

Between Afellay's injury-proneness and other rotation moves, Arnautovic will prob get enough games.

Not really. Just moving games around so that there is a minimum number of rest days before the next game. So a EL team that plays on Thursday would have that weekend's league game moved to Monday. And any CL teams that play on Wed would have their league game on Sunday.

...and what happens if after the Monday league game, they have an EL or League cup game that week?

No idea. probably would mean a team is playing every 4 days for a while until the fixture pile up cleared.
Would obviously have to have games on Friday's in order to do it.

Re: English Football 2015/16
Also, nowhere in his study does he compare 2 days v 3 days recovery, which is his central argument.
It's always 2 v 3+, or 3 v 4+, so yeah his statistics include games where one team has had 2 days recovery, and the other team 6+ days if they played one game that week.
I would guess this is because 2 days v 3 days is hardly any difference.

Re: English Football 2015/16
Lol Mourinho.
Basically if a player asks for treatment, the ref won't re-start the game until the player has either been treated on the field or left the field himself. So even if the medics had ignored the ref waving them on, Hazard would've had to go off.

Re: English Football 2015/16
Anyone work in a HR department?
Having issues with my company honouring holiday dates I've booked, basically say I can't take the time off that I both need and am entitled too = no holidays unless the company approve the dates....holiday calendar full up for next 3 years (only a small exaggeration here), with no sign of any free dates becoming available any time soon.
Starting to get well pissed off with the lousy bastards.
What can I do?

Re: English Football 2015/16
marty not sure about anglo-saxon law but there should be specific labor laws created to prevent the employer from enforcing this. basically employers like to take advantage of employees who don't know much about labor laws and the privileges they're entitled to so i suggest you do some research and if the law is anything like here that should be illegal and i believe any firm with >50 employees has to have sort of HR committee you can address this issue too

Re: English Football 2015/16
I will try and speak to our HR person tomorrow. That sounds not only out of order but likely to breach some sort of law to me.

Re: English Football 2015/16
If you've booked it and it was improved this seems bang out of order
As an aside, this camera angle in Pompey/Derby is the worst I've ever seen. It's like someone's filming on a phone from the dugout

Yeah, makes it quite hard to watch. From Twitter: Did Portsmouth lower the camera by 10m every time they got relegated?

Re: English Football 2015/16
Marty,
Had you the dates booked off, agreed and all? Then they reversed their decision? Have you just started working with them and had these holidays pre booked before starting there?

Yea I've never seen a camera angle quite like this I don't think.
I don't hate it as a one off.

Re: English Football 2015/16
Kev I could only book the dates after the last CL draw as I wasn't sure which week we'd be at home. Were never approved at any stage, did get taken out of the calendar without explanation.
Have been here 7 months, only holidays I had were those I booked when I joined the company, even then they didn't pay me for the last 2 days from 11 I'd booked.
They know I have only one hobby and that's going to the football as and when it suits me.
