The old elite guys (Robben, Sneijder, RvP, Huntelaar) are too old and not elite (enough) anymore, the middle aged lads (Strootman, Blind, Wijnaldum, Afellay, Dost) aren't elite enough or injured for about 2 years now, the young up and comers who can become beasts (Bazoer, Klaassen, Willems, Fosu-Mensah, Van de Beek etc.) are too young to be of significant importance at this point.

Imo.
