Get on that horse so I can fight you

Obv I don't live in newcastle but every single fan I know is extremely pessimistic and have been since at least the relegation season

Obviously they're delusional - and they look back way beyond that Keegan era to the Jackie Milburn early 50s era, but it a harmless delusion imo.

Similarly to LO, all the Geordies I know are pretty sound

edit: reading LFC_US's post reminds me to say thanks to whoever posted the Klopp-Bayern-lost vine

Ok, so, for Newcastle, today surviving would be good. But Baids's conjecture - evidenced by Leicester Fosse FC - is that middling clubs with {some run hot/good emergent talent (Everton)/investors who aren't desparate to keep in play contantly getting their money out again(Soton? WHU???)} can jump to the top-tier of the table.

I've always quite liked Newcastle actually, but **** Mike Ashley. Him getting relegated five minutes before the new tv deal kicks in just has to happen.
03-03-2016 , 06:28 PM
Di Marzio is again claiming United are trying to get Atletico's DoF, expect an answer this month. Would quite like something like that to happen, WoodWOAT should just focus on raking in the sponsorship $$$.

Anti-Baids-theorem hot-take: Newcastle has an objectively better squad, but Sunderland are more likely to survive if it's 1 of 2 because Big Sam >>> Maclaren

More like at least half the current squad couldn't give a **** and knows that they'll be able to abandon ship in the summer if we go down. Not that McLaren is good but I'm pretty sure what's needed right now is a motivator and he definitely isn't that.

I'm kind of hoping Sunderland stays up..they have a goofy team and their goalkeeper has had some lol moments.

Obviously Villa is a given..thinking Newcastle and Norwich go with them.

Need Swansea to stay up, or else the BPL becomes the EPL..

A month ago you could have gotten 500/1 that Crystal Palace would be relegated..today the odds are 33/1..coincidentally, a month ago is when NBC Sports debuted the series Crystal Palace: South London and Proud..they pretty much went in the tank right after that.

Coincidence?

newcastle really aint that bad on paper
sissoko, mitrovic, janmaat, coloccini all would make leicester starting XI for sure
shelvey, mbemba, wijnaldum in with a shout too

So I never watched a full Newcastle game but this guy (Sideshow Bob look helps recognizing) looks terrible in every highlight clip ever, seemingly. What are his strengths?
03-03-2016 , 07:12 PM
yea toon fans i know are convinced that colo is in the running for worst player in english football (all four professional tiers included)

edit: i say toon fans i know - i know one toon fan and i watch true geordie vids so thats two

Coloccini would not make Leicester starting XI, the guy is done

He was pretty good in his day but those days are over

Janmaat is definitely making it, Danny Simpson being the starting right back for Leicester as they make a title challenge will never cease to amaze me

As I said earlier the problem isn't really the players, the players cashy mentioned are def good enough to be playing in the PL, but we have a horribly unbalanced squad and alot of the players don't seem to have the tiniest bit of fight in them.

How we didn't buy any defender in january is beyond me, we're Steven Taylor's annual injury away from not being able to field a central defense with CBs (Janmaat would probably have to step in, no idea who'd replace him on the right though)
03-03-2016 , 07:23 PM
coloccini actually worse than huth now?
used to be pretty decent
03-03-2016 , 07:28 PM
So did Jenas do anything hilariously lol on question time

McClaren seems like a likeable enough guy, but he's taken 36 points from a possible 117 in the past year (0.98 ppg). That's a pretty good record compared to Carver's 0.56 though.

Just finished rewatching the game v Arsenal.

A couple of thoughts that are of a concern. Arsenal where so bad but they some how managed to score twice against us. The free kick could have easily been avoided and in turn would have seen the 2 goal lead going into half time.

It's frustrating as although we've won the game it's completely papered over the cracks.

I'm struggling to find positives from the game that haven't come from Arsenal sheer lack of motivation and hunger (if they are the right words for it).

I'm going to notch it down to arsenals complacency after seeing the team sheet.

Which is fully justified after finishing the rerun of last nights game. We've edged it in the first half which you could say we 'deserved' the points but as the game progressed I felt we deserved it.

Looking at the league table, it's, well, it's insane. How the **** can we be level on points with city and 4 behind Arsenal (abet city have a game in hand) and it's like great, brings a smile to you as you view it.

Then it dawns on you. We have had a an utter **** season so far. It's been dreadful throughout. So bloody boring. Negative. All those games, where you want to borrow cashys spoons. Yet we are only 4 points off 4th... Spoiled by Fergie!

It then sinks in. LvG is saying those exact things to the board. For **** sakes.

I'm now starting to think the most useless manager in living memory is going to continue to stay in charge because of Arsenal, City and Chelseas **** ups, which all happen in the same year. Run hotter LvG.

We were better vs Arsenal than Watford. Probably our luckiest 3 points of the season
and that's saying something. Mensah looks like a bit of a beast.
