That kid really has the worst luck. Think he would have been nailed on for a decent PL career if not for all the injuries.

His twin brother went off injured on Saturday as well.

Coincidence?

It's probably got something to do with momentum.

Fantastic performance, this should give us some momentum. We can still win 3 trophies this year.

Spoiler:

If you want to quote a study to support your hypothesis at least read the abstract to make sure the methodology isn't utter ****e.

Alas, here's my original post from 2 weeks ago that I posted in the wrong thread and couldn't be arsed to post here.

Silva et al (1992) come to the same conclusions in a laboratory test with non-athletes.

Cliffs: Fat blokes in pubs don't understand variance or the pic Lars posted.
FWIW, I find it peculiar that someone with a master's in psychology fails to account for the most basic cognitive biases.

No you're not, it's scientific blurb. "Significant" refers to statistical significance (i.e. probability of less than 5% that the result is down to chance).

So, in this instance it means that while the amount of points scores was small ("only 5 points"), it was still a greater amount of points scored than could be attributed to chance alone.

Also Gilovich's study doesn't mention the word "momentum" once in the entire report.
