I can see Sunderland staying up. It really is a shame Sam has never had a chance at a really rich club.

Are United in "rest players in the league to try and qualify for CL via Europe" mode yet ?

José time now

i guess this result was because of the momentum gained by jettisoning the paedo a cpl days ago

as the old adage goes, throw a brick out of a shopping trolley you're sitting in and you'll go in the opposite direction, but throw a paedo out of the trolley and you'll really start to move

Pulis must be worrying. I'll be worried if we lose to toon

was just thinking (serious cap for a moment) that a naive test for momentum would be to look at a team's nth result and compare with its nth+1 result, across a large sample size.

how you would separate momentum from just being good still remains open though

it's a bit like when tennis commentators act surprised that the person who wins the first set usually wins the match. well duh, they only have to win one more set (in a 3 set match) and they're probably the better player if they won the first set anyway.

but mun also had momentum from the BBC article about TSO in

We could just draw our way to safety. Which is an improvement on the previous guy who was masterminding a relegation before Roman figured it out eventually

I'm wondering, in single games, how much a team/player's 'momentum' is just the other side being consciously or subconsciously defeated, causing them to play a much worse? Are they just two sides of the same coin?
