He knows that if the manager is given the money, he will only buy players that are brought to the club through his agent and, in the process, he will pocket a wacking great windfall through cuts of the transfer fee that he’ll split with his agent.

The chairman knows this and is digging his heels in. Everybody in football knows this.

The chairman knows that the manager will spend the money for the sake of spending it because he may not be there in the summer, anyway, and he wants as big a slice of that £30 million pie as he can get before he’s gone and a new manager comes in and the opportunity is lost.
It'll be interesting to see if there's any truth in this.

I mean Pullis can't spend it without getting the OK from the money men so I find that part a bit stupid or am I being stupid?

whole thing looks like a load of old bollocks iyam

i buy that managers & agents are at it (arry didnt even bother to hide it) but this reads like 14 year old FM16 fan fiction

for 30 million up front JP would sell in a heartbeat

for an alternative view see Pat Murphy's column on the BBC

this seems particularly unlikely. who is Pulis's agent?
01-25-2016 , 05:24 PM
Is that article implying Pulis will be gone in the summer?

What a signing Barton was. Superb again tonight.

Clement could be on thin ice

Yeah. That's two big defeats in a row. Was listening to radio Derby after the Brum game last week and a lot of the fans were calling for his head.

I think it's fair to say they pressed the self destruct button in that second half though, not sure the manager can be blamed for that.
01-25-2016 , 06:08 PM
The chairman said after a game the other week that the performance was "unacceptable" and that was before the 2 recent defeats so I wouldn't be surprised if he was give the boot tomorrow seeing as it's FA Cup weekend this weekend.

Trying to think who they could possibly get in. Kinda surprised no-one has taken a look at Karl Robinson. He's done a decent enough job at MK Dons, might be time to make a move to a promotion pushing side.

Stick with Clement and get rid of drunken Keogh.

Very nice comeback by Burnley today..3 quick goals and they look to be on their way to promotion back to the Premier League along with Hull City and newbie Middlesbrough.

Question from an ignorant American EPL fan: There is a team near the top of the Championship table called "Brighton and Hove Albion"..is this team associated in any way with West Brom Albion? And what exactly does "Albion" refer to? Sorry for the lame questions.

Albion is the ancient name for Britain. Not sure why some football teams use it.

Thanks, Baids. I thought it might have to do with a location, rather than United/Real/Sporting/FC, etc.

still effectively used as the Celtic (Scottish/Irish/Welsh/ maybe others) name for Scotland in one derivation or another, for any trivia buffs out there

Hope you're right. Not sure why you called it a comeback though, we were never behind, although it might have seemed that way after Derby dominated the first half.

And Middlesbrough aren't exactly newbies, they were founder members of the Premier League.

I just meant "newbie" from the past few years. I only started watching and following the EPL the past 3-4 years or so..so "new" to me..lol.

Just love the entire concept of promotion/relegation..wish it could somehow be incorporated into American sports..not that it would ever happen here..sure makes for outstanding drama..

Albion - as in West Bromwich Albion - derived (in 1880) from an old foundry district in West Bromwich of the same name

wiki

random club (WBA) online history

All the others are later adoptions of the suffix to (the then even more successful ()) West Bromwich Albion.

Brighton (founded in the early c20) traditionally playing in blue and white stripes might be in imitation of WBA - but I don't see much about this in the history of BHA. Sterling Albion and Burton Albion are both post World War 2 names.
