Nobody watching the mighty Clarets tonight? 3-0 up at Brentford and it's only halftime.

no.

thoughts on Scott Arfield?

he's maybe becoming relevant to my interests
01-15-2016 , 05:18 PM
We've been awful since I posted that

Pretty sure Arfield's good enough for Canada. Thought he should've been playing for Scotland a long time ago. Scored a cracker tonight.

Nice win tonight TP

So I went to see the new Star Wars this evening. The Teenager only came reluctantly as she didn't enjoy the prequels (did anyone under the age of 8 actually enjoy those, really?) but her younger cousin is a massive Star Wars nerd and was super excited. Both kids were on the edges of their seats throughout, and the adults genuinely enjoyed it too. My expectations were not high, and I fully expected to be disappointed but I'm delighted to say I was wrong! Harrison Ford is great, there are loads of nice references to the original stories but not so much that it detracts from the action. That new girl in the lead role is particularly impressive; I've no idea where they plucked her from but she looks like she's been a star all her life. I award it 5.5 out of 7.

May I ask how old "the teenagers" are?

sure LO mentioned 14 in a thread in OOT recently

Force Awakens is the best family film for ages.

Thats not hard as there are very very few family films these days as most films are very focused on age range delineated market groups.

I enjoyed the animation "Inisde Out" quite a bit..."Big Hero 6" wasn't bad either (the story had a lot more weight than "Age of Ultron")

The Force Awakens is the worst Stars Wars movie ever made and that includes The Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi

my daughter is 14, my niece is 9. The 14yo went in with the attitude that Star Wars is for nerds, but her cousin was so desperate to see the movie that she came along for the free nachos and popcorn. Both kids absolutely loved it, and my daughter now wants to re-watch the entire series.

Believe me when I say that anything capable of eliciting an enthusiastic reaction from The Teenager is doing something magical.

Jar Jar Binks ITT.

Three away wins in a week!

If we can somehow manage to play two good halves of football, we'll be nailed on for promotion. The halftime scoreline was flattering - to Brentford, but they gave it a right good go in the second half and we let them.

Enjoyed The Force Awakened when we saw it just after Christmas, but we could have saved time and money and just watched Episode 4 again.

lol, I can see why some people might not like TFA and it obviously has it flaws, but PM is probably the worst film ever made.

Which one is the one with the galactical political debates that go on forever? that is the worst one and it is not even close

There are only three Star Wars movies. Maybe now there is a fourth one. I haven't seen it yet, so can't hand down a final verdict yet whether or not it deserves to be called a Star Wars movie. However, the fact that they did this makes me at least hopeful.

(not so) Fun fact:

I haven't even seen all of the non Star Wars movies. The Phantom Menace was so unspeakably AIDS that I didn't even bother with the other two. And I swear to god, having to endure one more scene with Jar Jar Bings in it would have probably sent me on a rampage.

I also hate most of the things in the "Special Editions" of Episodes 4-6. Thankfully there are a bunch of nerds out there who are putting the original theatrical releases back together, which that **** Lucas is guarding like a bloodhound.

For anyone interested, go to your favourite torrent site and search for "Despecialized Edition". They've gone to incredible lengths to put the original back together.

eriksen consistently confounds the typical armchair expert. his level is actually quite consistent and has been since he arrived at tottenham. for some reason this season people are singling him out as being out of form but it isn't true. sort by scorepoints i suppose. maybe it is the particularly good form of others (dembele, dier, toby) that makes it seem that way. and it really has baffled me that nobody ever catches on that only 100.0% of the time when we sub him out we lose our bite and start struggling. it is god damn mindboggling.

revenge of the sith was actually pretty good iirc. its been at least 5 years since i've seen it though. TFA is super meh but nostalgia gonna nostalgia i guess.

I think it's the good form of Alli that has marginalised Eriksen. His best scorepoint spell came when he was effectively playing as a second striker in a Bergkamp-type role behind Kane, so he was constantly getting into he box and often ahead of Kane.

More often than not, nowadays he is interchanging with the number 8, and it's Lamela and Alli getting ahead of Kane. This explains his lack of scorepoints, but that notwithstanding, I still think his performance level has dropped below it's peak and while he still contributes, he just doesn't seem to play those key passes in those close games against teams like Leicester, which is his stock in trade.

That notwithstanding, he is without a scorepoint in 6 games. I'd be tempted to start Son today against Sunderland, just because we have lots of good options in that area, and we need to keep Son sharp for when we don't bring a striker in this month....
