DAS

'Lads, it's Leicester' until all the games run out and it's too late.

Last edited by ZAIDS; 03-03-2016 at 01:47 PM. Reason: so probably the das or emphasise none

if all we do is throw some money at the current squad and encourage Ross, ROMELU, Stones, McCarthy, Coleman and Deulofeu to stay it'll be reasonable to expect a big improvement in points next season. If the squad is actually improved then we'd be well equipped to compete for top 4.

I know I sound like an idiot saying Everton are even close to being top 4 competitors, but look at the league table right now. The cold truth is we've spewed away over 12 points this season from games we really ought to have won thanks to a combination of stupid individual errors, questionable tactical plays, lolbad refereeing and standard bad luck. If there are infinite parallel universes, this Everton squad is above Leicester this season in a good % of them. We're above Man Utd and Stoke in most of them! The players are good enough to be competitive right now, it just hasn't happened for a variety of reasons.

first syllable in Britain, imo, and it's "a" like in apple
(second in Brazil)

correcting my "llike" typo above put me in mind of how to pronouce Miike Snow. Don't know if there are any Swedes here bu maybe Vader can take a stab?

I have a everton>stoke bet with a friend and was shocked to see everton are and still favorites to finish ahead of them despite being 4 back with a game in hand. Must be major run bad

Was also shocked on same site to see Jamie vardy odds on for poty and mahreZ like 3 players below him. Might have been behind Harry kane too but can't remember atm. Lol England bias

Is there anything - from your week by week Everton watching - to the meme of Martinez's sides always giving away points because of lack of focus on defence?

absolutely. It's not necessarily Bob's fault either; the players' decision making is the main problem. Over-confidence on the part of the young, gifted players is the main cause of it, but some of the more experienced players like Jags and Barry find themselves trying too hard to anticipate and cover up the inevitable mistakes from Barkley and Stones towards the end of a game rather than focusing on their own roles so the cohesion of the team falls apart. I'm not describing it well but what happens is everyone ends up out of position and unsure as to what they ought to be doing. It's more down to the psychological effect of conceding so many late goals than any fault in tactics or formation, though we were definitely more disciplined under Moyes. Shrug.

So much this. I mean he is an exceptional talent. Wonder where he will be playing next season.

In my hidden dreams we are signing either Mahrez or Kante... I know I know, but a man can dream

but he'll probably want to play in a Champions League side if he has any ambition

i really don't quite get performance explosions like that
how do you go from getting sold from frigging le havre for 500k at the age of 23 to GOAT just 1 1/2 years later?

We can pretty much guarantee him the group stages for a couple of years until he moves on..also an exhilarating 2nd leg where we fight bravely but eventually get KO'd in the Ro16...

But isn't that down to Bob's choice of how to play? I'm not sure that you can tighten that up and not diminish your creativity (& I suppose he may well say that too).

God knows watching Pulis's Albion this season has been tough sledding most of the time - but it really is true that the team is the cliched 'hard to break down' and people don't end up unsure of what they should be doing. (Whether what they are supposed to be doing is an optimal use of resources is a different question.)

can't remember the last time we couldn't do it... we came close once but Fülöp Márton (RIP) helped us by making 2 pretty big mistakes in the last game of the season

Good football talk today! But since it's not a match day I'll throw out an OT post!

As I do every 1-2 years, I'm currently going through my all time favorite bands catalog, modest mouse. If any of you Brits are into music and only know them from float on, I give them my highest recommendation. Their run of albums leading up to good news for people who like bad news is epically good.

Real might have a fire sale this summer. I can see Mahrez ending up there tbh. How the **** do Leicester cope in Europe next season?
03-03-2016 , 03:04 PM
Not sure how voting works in the EPL, but often here two players on the same team split votes.

Like last year's National League Cy Young award voting, Zach Greinke and Clayton Kershaw, both Dodgers, should have finished 1-2 in voting..instead they split the votes, and the award went to Jake Arrieta of the Cubs.

Could the same happen to Vardy and Mahrez, and the award goes to Ozil?

the short answer is ... about as well as Man City or Arsenal for their first ~four tries ... don't get out of the group stage

the slightly longer answer is .. they appear to be owned by a relatively wealthy family/group/person [take your pick of legal entity] and probably can invest in players (and won't get out of the group stage). Although at least the manager has experience of the CL semi-finals,
